Soar Fox Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 I bet when you threaten to cancel you'd be put through to and English person or atleast a person who speaks English very well? Correct. I was with virgin until June had a couple of bad things with them and when I rang up I was fed up of not being able to someone who could speak and understand me. But as soon as I said I wanted to cancel I got someone who could speak perfect English.
Alexikokopops Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Correct. But as soon as I said I wanted to cancel I got someone who could speak perfect English. Perfect English?? The customer retentions department is based in Teeside! As for Customer services, that's about half and half onshore vs. offshore so it's luck of the draw. Faults are based in Liverpool (I think) so you should have ended up there. Believe it or not, when based on complaints to Ofcom, Virgin Media have one of the best customer services All telecommunications is a nightmare
Alexikokopops Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Aye, staffed by people with next to no understanding of English - give them their due though, this is probably because it's their 2nd - 3rd language. My one complaint. For the cable services, ustomer services is about half and half onshore vs. offshore, retentions, faults and sales are all based onshore. There are a number of call centres in Scotland, Wales and the north though so I can see where you're coming from.
ozleicester Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Internet and communications is one of the areas that you guys in the UK absolutely murder Oz. Currently the top speed i can get is 7Mbs, (max 500gb Downloads then shaped) Free local calls If i take that, plus the foxtel/sky package (about 60 channels) will cost me $250 - (about 180 pounds a month)
martyn Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Just moved from sky to virgin for tv, phone and bb. Obviously bb is faster, although i've never had speeds in excess of 50mb/s despite paying for 100. TV is more or less the same, although there are less HD channels on virgin (eg can't get ss3, ss4 or ssf1 in hd) and I much prefer the interface and navigation with sky. There is no mobile option like Sky Go either. Not had to deal with customer services as yet but think they aren't known for their efficiency. On the plus side catchup tv is way better on virgin, and the TiVo box a better bit of kit than a standard sky+ box. In your position, I'd cancel sky, hold tight and wait a few weeks for 'sky wants you back' flyers through the post (had one offering 50% off tv for a year only a week after virgin had been installed, it's common practice). Keep sky tv and thn get whatever phone/bb package you like.

MooseBreath Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 If FT had a whip round do you think we could persuade Virgin Media to cut you off? Just about getting sick of this constant abuse and bullying that I face on this forum. I come here to relax yet I'm targeted with vicious and spiteful comments almost everywhere I go.

I come here to relax yet I'm targeted with vicious and spiteful comments almost everywhere I go. It must be a really difficult time for you. Could I suggest being generally less like yourself and people may warm to you?

Do you get faster speeds when it's plugged into the router through Ethernet because it could just be your wireless signal (which you can improve by following some of these tips). Sorry if I'm being ridiculously obvious, just trying to help
