stez Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 he was on this afternoon with simon mayo. regarding his time at leicester he said he'd made some mistakes but he wasn't solely to blame, i presume he was hinting at john elsom, he said he bought some bad players but also said some of the players already here didn't play to their best (i guessed he meant matt elliott and neil lennon). he said he's expecting a good welcome at brighton but says he'll be taking the ear plugs to the walkers! as there were no calls, texts or emails from leicester fans, it was just people ringing to suck his cock over getting hull up, my guess was he said he'd talk about the leicester time if no leicester fans got on the air, but i can't be sure. anyway all in all it was nice to hear him finally accepting some of the blame for what went on a few years ago, and i for one never laid the blame squarely at his door anyway. i don't know if theres a 'listen again' feature for the interview on the bbc website
Matt Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Can't wait to see him next season and actually show how much we really do hate him. I'm balming him for where we are now! If he never fuked LCFC up we wouldn't have got relegated, gone into admistration, we'd still be a Premiership club probably (Can't be sure but probably)... And in the past I have found more things to throw at him! PT Welcome to hell
MADLEVEIN Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 o'neil took us to europe on a shoestring ... all the money he gained for this club via our premiership status and moderate success went into peter taylors back pocket and he squandered it away. simple ! the bloke is a tosser of the highest order .
Solihullfox Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 The day or night that Hull and Twatlor come to town I may have to avoid imbibing alcohol or risk being arrested because I'm not entirely sure how angry I may get under the influence of the evil drink. Then again.............
ivarti Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Peter Taylor was the one getting all the money, but I believe Martin O'Neill was the one quitting us and didn't really mind about Europe and UEFA Cups, he moved on to Celtic and we were left behind. I can understand that Martin O'Neill wanted to move on and he has done well at Celtic, but he left us behind wondering what sort of club CIty was, that we are 2nd rank, we are 2nd rank fans and we are not worth anything. It's sad that City always will be left behind, when a player or a manager is good enough to move to a "bigger stage" then he goes faster than ligheting. Don't blame Taylor for everything. He came to a club that didn't have a club strategy and a foundation to build from. Players like Neil Lennon wasn't sold because the club wanted it too. Players like Muzzy Izzet, Robbie Savage, Matt Elliott, and Neil Lennon forced the club to go through the roof with their contracts to manage to keep them. Peter Taylor was unexperienced at this level and had only been in charge at smaller clubs like Southend and Gillingham. He did mistakes and signed overraged players and lost it completely but things were really starting to roll in the wrong direction a long time before MON left. Emile Heskey wanted to move on to big things with Liverpool, Kasey Keller didn't want to sign a new contract and I can go on forever. No player except Steve Walsh has had a City heart. Criag Levein is trying to build a team with passion but don't be surprised. Levein has his goals higher than a club like City, just wait and see. Fans of this club will always be punished, because no one really think the club is big enough if they git a bit of success. It's sad really City could be one of the big clubs in England but it's difficult to build a club on players that are only after the money and nothing else. We need City hearts and then Alan Birchenall and Steve Walsh would be ok, but they cannot play anymore. Sorry but I feel that people are really getting to the wrong conclusion always and blaming a person. It's like the witch hunt in the 16th century and you are still there. Get your act together and concentrate on City, not on Peter Taylor he is history and gone.
fosseman Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Taylor spent badly but MON jumped ship at a time when City needed to be rebuilt and I don't think MON fancied the job any more. It's too simple only to blame Taylor, much as I'd like to.
step Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 If MON had stayed we would have been very succesful club and MON would have earned himself a reputation secong only to Cloughi
shen Posted 12 May 2005 Posted 12 May 2005 If MON had stayed we would have been very succesful club and MON would have earned himself a reputation secong only to Cloughi 107146[/snapback] who knows? We might have become stuck in midtable for eternity...like Charlton..
Katy Posted 12 May 2005 Posted 12 May 2005 You surely can't hide from the fact that Taylor spent money like water and brought some ridiculously crap players on 5 year deals with exceptionally high wages. That's mostly what I blame him for. Taylor and Elsom were equally to blame for wrecking our club.
