Ford Super Sunday Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 The BBC has unveiled a new weekly Football League magazine show tailored to each individual region around the UK.Titled Late Kick Off, the BBC One programme will have different versions for each of the UK's seven main regions - the North West, North East and Cumbria, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, West and East Midlands, the East, London and South East, and the South West. Each region will have its own presentation team. Starting on January 18, 2010, at 11.15pm, the show will feature match highlights and also give fans "in-depth coverage" from behind-the-scenes of clubs in the league. BBC controller of English regions David Holdsworth said: "Late Kick Off is good news for Football League fans who'll get to see more of their local teams on television but in a way they may not have seen before. "They'll get to see the goal action but we'll also examine stories and issues of the day from a different perspective, providing high-quality sports journalism. Added to that we will be going behind the scenes at the clubs giving an insight in to what really goes on, with access to players, managers and backroom staff." In August, coverage from the Football League returned to the BBC for the first time since 1988. Late Kick Off will run in conjunction with The Football League Show and live coverage of the League Cup semi-finals and final. Might get the proper, full, internet clips shown on there then. This can only be good news! (Unless it turns into the Nottingham Forest Show)
Guest Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 That sounds like a far better idea. Was only saying last night how the beeb hadn't really learnt from the ITV mistakes, pleased to see they have. Hope it works

Guest Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 I suspect this will be in conjunction with the Saturday night Football League show.that's what I interpreted from your post, sorry if it wasn't what you meant. That's how I understood it too, means you get an overall FL review and a specific one for your region. Not sure what it will mean for overall viewing figures of each but offering that choice for viewers can only be a good thing in my opinion.
samjohnson Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 Its inevitable that it will turn into the Nottingham Forest show. Its the same with East midlands today and any other regional TV programme on the BBC
Edmund Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 It will be similar to central soccer night which use to be on ITV hosted by Stan the man and Frank Skinner as well as many others if my memory serves me right. Good news all round. I doubt it will be biased as the beeb have already proved with the football league show. What I don't get our people slagging off the the football show because of it's settings or the woman who reads the e-mails out. Get a grip it's a hell of a lot better than monstrosity that was The Championship on ITV, not forgetting the countless ad breaks and the poor timing of placing a show early Sunday morning. Long live the BBC
BoneDog Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 Which teams will they concentrate on in the East Midlands show? Leicester, Forest, Derby, Notts County. Will Burton Albion be on it do you think? They normally seem to feature more on the West Midlands news which is a bit baffling to me cos I class them as East. It's a good idea by the beeb, I just hope Burton are on our show
josh_baskin Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 Its inevitable that it will turn into the Nottingham Forest show. The Doctor Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 of course, we are the biggest team in the world if you don't have 11 Jon Parkin styled players named Vennegor Of Hesselink you ain't the biggest team in the world
Guest Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 so for foxiles out of the bbc east midlands catchment area, wont be able to see their beloved teams low/highlights? If you have Freesat or Sky, you can watch any regional BBC station. Freesat - BBC One East Midlands = 952 Sky - BBC One East Midlands = 980

Guest Mee-9 Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 GOOD I really can't take much more of Robbie Savage on a saturday night. Puts me in a stinker of a mood.

Guest Bilo Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 Strange you don't have a forum of you own on that basis? The tragedy is that he isn't joking either....

JadeFalcon Posted 10 December 2009 Posted 10 December 2009 so it'll turn out to be an hour long program about notts forrest, just like central news has turned out

Edmund Posted 17 January 2010 Posted 17 January 2010 Looking forward to this although I just had a check and it only lasts half an hour. That's not a great deal of time to cover 14 teams surely
BoneDog Posted 18 January 2010 Posted 18 January 2010 Half an hour is a let down! Have I missed the first one? Not sure when it is on.
