Next Season's Contenders

Waiting to see who gets the chop from the prem makes you realise that whichever three come down will be serious contenders to bounce straight back.None of them seem to be in financial trouble,so would probably keep their squads together and the same manager. All of which points towards the play-offs at best for us.

If you look at this season the three relegated clubs didn't even manage a play-off spot between them. On that basis we are certainties for promotion. :D:D:thumbup:;)

If Southampton come down they will struggle like we did. Place. Norwich and West Brom know this division and the players are not on massive salaries a la the Saints.

Both Leeds and us lost all their best players and Wolves never had any,I think it will be a completely different story next season.

I think 1 season in the championship will do us, we kno the league and this season we r gonna win this league!!

Oh please... <_<

WBA brought in many players before the season began the likes of gera, campbell, greening, inamoto and kanu r highly likely to leave. Although they do have some good championship players such as earnshaw who may still have a future in the prem

...Thats what I was saying/predicting anyway, before I even thought of who is coming down! I'm saying we'll be somewhere between playoffs and mid-table.

If Southampton come down we'll probably have to play them at Welford Road as Clive Woodward will be in charge of the Saints.

Get big Jonno out of retirement to play centre half :P

If Norwich come down they don't have to sell any of their players...Just been watching SSN and the Norwich board say they are stable and can keep the team together.

No way will we win the league next year. If you believe that your expectations are unrealistic and you will end up dissapointed.

There's a battle ahead!!

I think it would be best for us if Noriwch stay up. They seem to be able to retain all their players and Ashton would run riot in this division given the best service available!

West Brom have a lot of short term signings but also have a good core and I think they would be contenders but nothing to fear.

Crystal Palce could conceivably lose Routledge, Johnson and worst of all Dowie if they were to be relegated. If that were to happen I would predict midtbale mediocracy at best.

Southhampton will struggle with an agining over piad squad and a manager who will want to get out of their as quickly as possible.

If Norwich stay up or go down, I guarantee one thing, that several clubs will make enquiries about Ashton and I am not convinced he will still be a Norwich player. :o:huh::unsure::rolleyes:

Yes Steven, but Norwich have him tied in to a deal, and they are adament that they won't be selling any of their main players.

Norwich, if they come down, will be going straight back up!

I am not so sure that any of the relegated clubs will be that strong next season. The manner in which you go down can have effect on long term confidence. Crazy but it's true.

Norwich could be in line to emulate the Baggies as they are more likely to keep things together.

Palace are more likely to lose some key players. The Championship is their natural level. They were flattered by having so many penalty awards (an average of one in every three games) and by having Johnson fit throughout the season. Time for the law of averages to kick in.

Southampton, if they lose Redknapp (Snr) will struggle. I can't see Crouch staying there either.

So the Championship is wide open next season. Doesn't mean we'll be anywhere roundabout's though...

But having seen Robbo pull off the great escape (a man who could only motivate himself to flash in ladies toilets) there might be hope for Levein yet...

quite chuffed for bryan robson , i do admit my appreiciation of him comes mainly from his playing days but never the less what a bloody acheivement keeping the baggies up !
