Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 St Ives all the way. I love the place and great if you like art, you'll see lots of artists at work... Lemme see, photos of St Ives... Taken quite a few years ago, but if I was in a band I'd love that as a moody band shot. Anyways, that's St Ives harbour and this is Porthminster Beach which is a great family beach and that is the massive sandcastle me and my mates built Finally, an official piccy of St Ives Other than that, Porthcurno, which is a little out on it's own, just a hamlet really, but it has a great beach... and the Minack Theatre, which is a MUST to visit if you like theatre. In fact, most resorts in Cornwall are lovely - even Newquay if you go when the knobs aren't there (high season)
Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 I was thinking the north coast so that I could body board , but all the attractions seem to be near the south coast. St Ives has Porthmeor Beach, which has great surf (surfed there myself), and makes a good base to explore the far west of Cornwall. Penzance and St Michael's Mount are literally 15 mins drive away. Oh, and if you visit Cornwall, drink some of St Austells Breweries Doombar... a lovely tipple!
stez Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Hotel, B&B, caravanning, camping or living off the land and eating what you kill? can a person survive on foxestalk threads, alone? (a cheap, and untrue, gag, but irresistible)
Webbo Posted 29 January 2010 Author Posted 29 January 2010 can a person survive on foxestalk threads, alone?(a cheap, and untrue, gag, but irresistible) It's funny because it's true.
stez Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 It's funny because it's true. when i was a kid, we used to stay at 'golden sands' in hayle, which is just up the road from st ives, but apart from a beach (which looks like the Porthcurno one trav put up (not the showy-offy 'look at my sandcastle' one) ) but it was a good base for travelling round the rest of cornwall, and the site we used to stay at was directly on the beach.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 My mum lives St Keverne near to Those places, and like you say, it's stunning down there. Portlleven (sp) also not far from those areas has the best fish 'n' chips I've ever tasted. On the South Coast.......Porthleven is a excellent place to stay or visit. Excellent website for many cottages On the North coast......Porthtowan is also amazing, blue flag beach + many surf championships held here + the Blue Bar is quality, Prince Wills has been here before. Live music + comedy. Awesome Bar on the beach I recommend Castaways to stay at......owned by a couple in Northants. Castaways

I always thought Trav le bleu was the type who'd show off about his sandcastles.
Unit Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 There's a place called Croyde bay which I think is just outside cornwall in devon, easily one of the best beaches in England.
Zingari Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 I always thought Trav le bleu was the type who'd show off about his sandcastles. does anyone else think that Trav le blue's sandcastle looks like a great big sombrero , and is actually trying to say " we'd rather be in Acapulco "
Trav Le Bleu Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Bah, I have Clinical Sandcastle Deprecation Disorder, I'll have you know and it's very difficult to live with. I should be on benefits!
leicesterfox86 Posted 9 February 2010 Posted 9 February 2010 Go to newquay. the beach is superb and the people are always friendly
Big Ol' Bob Posted 9 February 2010 Posted 9 February 2010 If I was you i'd head for Holywell Bay. It's bang inbetween Newquay and Perranporth, perfect if you want to adventure around the surrounding towns and places but want to get away from it all at the end of the day. The beach is beaut, plus you can follow the coastline up to Newquay past Crantock which again is an awesome little beach. Great scenery, lots of things to do and a cracking little pub, St.Pirrans Inn, just off the beach at Holywell Bay if I remember rightly!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 10 February 2010 Posted 10 February 2010 Do not go to Penzance or Newqauy, as they offer nothing. I have spent many holidays there., and find the best base to be St. Ives. In itself it has a lot to offer, but is within reach of many lovely spots, such as Polpero, Tintagel (a wonderful high accent to the castle via rope bridges and steps), Boscastle, Port Isaac, Mousehole, etc.
Webbo Posted 24 July 2010 Author Posted 24 July 2010 well, apart fromthe crap weather up until Friday Cornwall is lovely. We're not to far from Padstow which is nice, as is Bude and Newquay. We're going to lookat Rock tomorrow and moving on to Devon on Monday. PS Body boarding makes your nipples sore.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 26 July 2010 Posted 26 July 2010 PS Body boarding makes your nipples sore. Or in extreme cases, fall off.
