eaststandtom Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 waghorn has done well but it took him until xmas/new year to get any level of consistency. understandable given his inexperience. he has done well since the turn of the year especially since fryatts absence. some way off being a premier league player i feel.potentially yes but next season? no. play consistently for a whole season or two not just a few months. 20 goals on a consistent basis in the championshi is a good sign. ideally, he should play another season in the championship before making the transition. look at frazier campbell. scored at hatful for full but bugger all now. waghorn needs time for that step up
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Waggy blows hot and cold. A fair player, but certainly not Premiership material. I think we will finish 7th /8th. Not good enough to go up, sadly.
Dylan Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? He's done decent to replace Fryatt. I thought our playoff hopes were shattered when he got injured. Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Yes but not next season imo. He plays with a lot of heart and puts his all into the game. Maybe another season on loan (to us ). Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? Want- 4/5/6. Think- 6th. Who are your best players? Fryatt is our top scorer and was brilliant. Weale has saved us many times and has only made a few mistakes. Berner has been solid at the back- the pts with/without him show how much of a difference he makes- good attacking wise too. Dyer has been good this season grabbing a few goals and has looked dangerous on the wing. Hobbs has been consistent all season, rarely makes a mistake. And of course- Ryan McGivern WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? Every team who gets promoted will be favourites to come back down, but if we were to go up I think we can stay up if we purchased a few players, IF MM is willing to spend. I think Hobbs and Berner have been great this season at the back, and they'd be able to handle it. Fryatt may be able to cope up front. However, other than that we will need strengthening. Furthermore- we have a few excellent young prospects for the future. Jack Hobbs- is only 21, and as I said earlier he is excellent. I think he will be playing PremierLeague football in the next few years, whether he's with us or not. Big mistake from Liverpool to sell him- reckon he's better than some of the plonkers Liverpool have got at the back. Michael Morrison- is 22, and has adapted brilliantly to the right-back role this season. Looked comfortable and one to look out for in the future. Andy King- is 21, and has looked good in midfield. Played most games for us this season and has scored 8 goals for us this season i think, from CM. Welsh international too.
Messi Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? Very Very Well, Chases Everything, Gives 100% Every Week and Has Scored Some Vital Goals. Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Yeah i dont see why not, a young determined lad. Hopefully he will be in the premier league with us though Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? Want: 5th Think: 6th Who are your best players? Chris Weale, Michael Morrison, Jack Hobbs, Bruno Berner, Richie Wellens, Andy King, Matty Fryatt and Waggy WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? IF We Do, Then with a few more premiership class players then i dont see why not!
Mickey O'Neil Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? He's done very well. He's kept a couple of permanent signings out of the team and made that starting place his own. I think he's loving his footy with us, I'd like it to continue. Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? He'd deffo do a job in a lower Prem team, as long as he gets the service. I don't think he gets the service at Leicester all the time...that's our midfielders fault, not his. They go bloody missing some games. He gets frustrated if the ball gets hoofed, he needs it on the floor near him. I don't think he'd get in your team...you seem to be overlooking him. Although Brucie obviously is thinking ahead and saying he's not for sale just in case we make it up there and all of a sudden, we get some TV money! Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? Want 4th-6th. Think/hoping/praying for 6th *just*. But that'll do me in our first season back. TBH, was hoping for around 10th this year. Who are your best players? Hobbs, Tunch, Gally, Berner, Weale, Dyer, Fulop WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? *IF* we do, we'd make a good fight of it. I'd be happy at 18th. I'm very, very, very happy with our management/backroom setup and have faith in them.
Guest Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Waggy loved his attention today. Whoever was sitting on the bench had to tell him that we wanted him to start the wave, and show him how
white_y Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 WAGHORN SIGN HIM UP,WAGHORN WAGHORN SIGN HIM UP!!!!!!!!
Guest Bilo Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? Very well is the short answer. Always looks hungry, determined and seems strong. Seems to have no concept of a lost cause and is a real tryer. As has been said though, he needs it played into feet or he does start to look ineffective and frustrated. Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Obviously he's still young so could go either way. The early indications are good however, and if he doesn't make it then it won't be through lack of trying. Plenty of ability and not exactly short of pace either, essentials in the top tier. Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? After a real wobble in March, we look to have settled down a bit after two decent wins. Swansea on the other hand look shaky, and if anyone loses their play-off spot to Blackpool it'll most likely be them. I'm going to say 5th with either Swansea or Blackpool in 6th. Who are your best players? Jack Hobbs and Michael Morrison have been revelations since arriving here. Morrison has proved adaptable enough to play at right-back in the Championship despite being a Conference centre-half just two years ago. Hobbs is solid as a rock and has been brilliantly consistent throughout his time here. Andy King, as has been said on another thread, is reminiscent of Darren Fletcher and is the heartbeat of our midfield. Fryatt is always dangerous when on form and has footballing intelligence, while Gallagher's technical ability is very good. WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? The jury's out. If Pearson is given money to spend, he has proved himself an adept operator in the transfer market. He's done little wrong and could buy well. Our team is well organised and not easy to beat as a rule, if not the most exciting to watch. We could do a Stoke or a Hull, it's tough to tell. That said, with the right players brought in, I doubt we'd do a Derby. Pearson seems too smart to allow that to happen. He needs to be provided with the cash though, and Mandaric may take the opportunity to recoup some of the losses he's made since taking over.
samjohnson Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 My Opinions: Steve Bruce must release him... Sell him to "a club" so that this "club" can post a damn good go at staying in a "certain league" after winning the play-offs.
Unabomber Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Waggy loved his attention today. What did he do??

Fosse Fox Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 Alright. Sunderland fan here, in peace. Took a mild interest in Leicester City since our Waggy moved to you lot on loan, watch a fair few games when i can and look out for the results. Gota few questions, if you wouldn't mind sparing a few minutes to answer.. How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? Who are your best players? WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? All the best, Scott. He has been one of our more consistent players. If he applies himself and continues to improve he will continue to attract envious glances... ...from the likes of Bristol (City), Barnsley and any side looking for instant promotion from Division One. PS Nigel Pearson's blockbuster 'How I Achieved Back-to-Back Promotions With Arse-to-Arse Shite' is awaiting publication...
