Scott1CG Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Alright. Sunderland fan here, in peace. Took a mild interest in Leicester City since our Waggy moved to you lot on loan, watch a fair few games when i can and look out for the results. Gota few questions, if you wouldn't mind sparing a few minutes to answer.. How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? Who are your best players? WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? All the best, Scott.
The Doctor Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? pretty well. He's carried a threat all season, worked his socks off and more than covered for fryatt in the early days of his injury Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Not sure. Think he could probably cope but it would probably be mid to lower prem at best Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? Want - 3th-6th Think - 5th-8th Who are your best players? Jack Hobbs, Michael Morrison, Bruno Berner, Andy King, Matt Fryatt WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? T'will be difficult but we might just do it.
lavrentis Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? Performed well, puts in a lot of effort and is passionate. Clearly talented as well. Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Reckon he would do alright for a lower prem league so he should be alright for Sunderland. Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? Want: 3rd Think: 4th Who are your best players? Chris Weale, Matty Fryatt and Jack Hobbs. WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? Yes, If we get promotion I think we will finish around 14th.
Budweiser Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 How well in your opinion, has Waghorn in his first "proper" season in league football, performed? Good. Works hard most games and is a constant danger. Quite a calm character who has a fantastic attitude. I can only see him improving further and further. Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? I think it's a little too early to tell, but, i'll say most likely. Enthusiastic, hard-working and fairly quick. Im sure in a couple of seasons he'll have reached his potential, though I doubt whether he will be at Sunderland. I believe Pearson is the right man to get the best out of him, and can't see him pushing for a Sunderland place next season. Hopefully we'll try and snap him up. Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? 6th, the play-offs in any position will do me. Who are your best players? Hobbs, Fryatt and Berner. WHEN you get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? Can't say. When will we get promoted? ! & without seeing who Pearson would invest in, not a clue.
Fox92 Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? He has been great. Obviousley, Fryatt is another top striker that we have but Waghorn offers different options from Matty Fryatt. Martyn Waghorn is strong, fast, works the channels well and works hard for the team, you can tell he plays for a top Premiership club under a top manager. Sometimes, he gets frustrated but that is his desire. Top man. His goal against Cov! Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? In a few years, I think he could be a good player in the Prem. I have named his main attributes above and can certainly make it in that League in a few years. Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? Think we'll finish 6th/7th (if 6th, just) Want us to finish up there in the play offs because 1st and 2nd are gone. 3rd - 6th would do me, awesome season. Who are your best players? Jack Hobbs, Richie Wellens, Bruno Berner, Andy King, Michael Morrison. WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? Need some money if we get promoted. Get rid of the dead wood then look to bring in a few players. I'd like to think that if we did go up, we'd be able to take points at places like Hull, Stoke, Portsmouth, Hull, Burnley, Bolton, Blackburn etc (providing some of those teams are still there) and then if you get something at Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea etc it is an added bonus. Would love to go up and watch players like Steven Gerrard instead of Anthony Gerrard.
Kilworthfox Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? He works very hard, he is quick and strong. He has the ability to hold up play very, very well even when physically mis-matched. Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Yes no doubt. Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? anywhere between 4th & 7th. Hopefully 4th. Who are your best players? Ritchie Wellens Alex Tunchev Matty Fryatt Jack Hobbs (Martyn Waghorn) Paul Gallagher WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? Too early too say! Cheers Scott
Salieri Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? He's done a great job for us, particularly since we lost Fryatt to injury. Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Absolutely (hopefully with us!) Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? I think we'll just about hang in the play off area and finish 6th. Who are your best players? Weale, Tunchev, Hobbs, Berner, King, Fryatt. WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? IF we get promoted and Milan backs us financially then yes, we'll stay up.
AmericanScott Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Spoke to Waggy today. Him and his girlfriend are very nice people. I begged him to stay for next season So if he stays, you have me to thank.
Ozwin Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Spoke to Waggy today. Him and his girlfriend are very nice people. I begged him to stay for next season So if he stays, you have me to thank. What did he have to say?
BoneDog Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 I almost had a sexy dream about Waghorns goal at Cov. But then Viv off Emmerdale appeared and my focus shifted
AmericanScott Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 What did he have to say? Customer confidentiality
Mee Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 Spoke to Waggy today. Him and his girlfriend are very nice people. I begged him to stay for next season So if he stays, you have me to thank. If he stays, you are my hero Where did you see him anyway mate?
iancognito Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? Very well, he can handle himself too. The LB at Bristol City probably still has the bruises to prove it! Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Easily. Playing with more creative midfielders than ours and he'll get 15 a season. Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? 5th comfortably, 6th nerve-wrackingly. Who are your best players? Weale in goal, Hobbs at CB and Fryatt when his shooting boots are on. WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? I'd fancy us to finish 16th/17th but this side hasn't got Elliott, Izzet, Lennon etc to push us into the top half. A lot will depend on Milan keeping the faith with Pearson and not sacking him when we inevitably have a 7 or 8 game run without a win.
teblin Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 Customer confidentiality Thats a strange thing for him to say! Did he wink at you too?
easilee Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 Haven't got a best player. Can't believe no-one has mentioned Lloyd Dyer (my Lord).
Donut Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? Has done really well for us. Very energetic, works tirelessly, has scored important goals for us and led the line really well for us in the absence of Matty Fryatt Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? If he continues to improve and gets more games under his belt, i think he could certainly play a role with a lower half/ mid table premiership team Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? I want to finish anywhere in the playoffs, and i think we should just about do that Who are your best players? Aleksandar Tunchev when fit, Jack Hobbs, Bruno Berner, Andy King (one for the future), Matty Fryatt, WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? WHEN we get promoted? crikey thats like asking how long is a piece of string! Well, i think to be honest, without considerable investment, relegation would be inevitable All the best for the rest of the season for your boys too Scott
Mee Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? Waggys a good player. Works hard, and gets what he deserves. All that hard work over the last few games proved itself against QPR Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Only in a Blue top with a fox on it , but for a lower half side yeh. Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? Want: 3rd-6th Think: 5th-7th Who are your best players? There are many on their day. Over the season Morrison and Hobbs have proven themselves. Also Waghorn has done well for us. Just hope Bruce lets us have him WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? IF we get promoted i think we would have a chance. Would be a hard battle, but theirs always a chance @Scott1CG, is their any extra news going around at Sunderland surrounding the Waghorn situation?
okie fox Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? Could develop into a decent small striker alongside a big striker. We have had to play him as a lone striker at times and he can't win balls in air that we insist on hoofing upfield to him. Has decent speed, a good shot, and finishes well. Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? 6th or 7th Who are your best players? Weale, Hobbs, Tunchev, Wellens, Dyer, Fryatt WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? No!

Mee Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 Is this some form of code for "Steve Bruce" - Excuse me being suspicious >.> It may be Bruce himself
Jimmy Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 maybe we should be using Alex to dig up some dirt on his dad and then blackmail him into selling us Waghorn
The Doctor Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 maybe we should be using Alex to dig up some dirt on his dad and then blackmail him into selling us Waghorn many of these ideas have already been put foward. A favourite seems to be taking Alex Bruce hostage and demanding waghorn in ransom. On a side note does anyone know when bruce will be back playing?
Mee Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 many of these ideas have already been put foward. A favourite seems to be taking Alex Bruce hostage and demanding waghorn in ransom. On a side note does anyone know when bruce will be back playing? He had the surgery a week or so ago i think. And he said it would take 5 or so days to recover. So he may be back training with them already, just getting match fit
evs_the_fox Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 How well in your opinions has Waghorn in his first " proper " season in league football, performed? Very. Has got better and better and has come in to his own since the responsibility fell on him to cover Fryatt's injury. Does he look like he could be a good player in the Premier League? He could do a job for a newly-promoted side or one that's looking for consolidation. Where abouts in the league do you want/think you will finish? Want - Play Offs Think - Play Offs Who are your best players? Weale Tunchev Hobbs Berner Wellens Gallagher Fryatt Waggy (until he goes back to you) WHEN yous get promoted, do you think you will stay up next season? Categorically no I'm afraid. The list of best players above contains maybe 4 that could cut it to a decent level in the Prem. Too many signings to make without the funds to do it. Squad too small.
