Look, we've been there or thereabouts all season in the play-offs. Barring some blips, we've been one of the most consistent sides in them. We may not have gone on any long unbeaten or winning runs, but nor have we gone on any long winless or losing runs. The four game losing streak is as bad as it's been all season for us, yet Forest are winless on the road since January. Not consistent enough surely. They haven't looked anything like the team in the second half of the season that swept all before them between October and January. Cardiff have blown hot and cold all season and weren't overly impressive in either of their games with us, Swansea are wobbling and don't score enough at the best of times and Blackpool's over-achievement will catch up with them if they eclipse the Swans. The fact we've done the double against them won't help them if we meet them either. Sod the omens, we can do it on our own merits if we play to our strengths.

Especially that strange female caller that was adamant we should hold back and effectively not try and get promoted. Because, £14million would be so much better later rather than sooner.
neiltheblue Posted 19 April 2010 Author Posted 19 April 2010 Just to clarify if we get to Wembley (and I really hope we do) I will be fully behind the team as I was on Saturday and every other game for the last 30 odd years, I just have a bad feeling about being in the prem next season having seen what has happened at Portsmouth and talk that Hull are in dire financial straits. Being in the prem is no longer always a good thing financially as the temptation to gamble on staying up is now often putting teams in trouble even if they do secure their prem status. My personal view is that if we do go up we follow the Burnley path of being careful, giving a chance to the players who got us there and adding a few carefully chosen signings, this is just my personal view and I respect the opinions of others even when they differ from my own, so if you disagree I wont be punching you, or anyone else for that matter, in the face.

Premiership football won't do anybody any good until we can buy some better players at a lower level.

I think that's a smart approach - problem is, if we go up I see us being sold. New owners/chairman/partners coming in are not renowned for quiet arrivals on a budget. I think it will be another 5 year roller-coaster. But tis the life of a City Fan.
