Steven Posted 19 May 2005 Author Posted 19 May 2005 CL must see something in him or he would not sign him. 111844[/snapback] Hit the nail on the head. Maybe MDV needs a good pre-season but we all like Hughes, Maybury and McCarthy so let's hope he sees the same qualities in Wilcox.
Alexikokopops Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Maybe Levein thought that Wilcox had the right kind of mentality and attitude that he wated in players in the team, which he showed by working hard to recover from his injury so he could start playing again, plus he adds a bit of experience to the team. Or maybe I'm just being overly optimistic about the whole shebang, we'll have to wait and see
Chimp Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 "He is a model professional and showed a lot of grit and determination in bouncing back from his latest injury set-back. Retirement never once crossed his mind."Jason is the kind of player that you want in the dressing room and once all the relevant paperwork has been completed then I'll look forward to welcoming him back with the rest of the lads for pre-season training on July 1."
Anish Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Games are not won in the dressing room. He might be exactly the kind of player you want in the dressing room, but he is not the kind of player I want on the pitch
supedaj Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Currently we dont have many options on the left side - Stewart and Tiatto really. With Tiatto being on and off due to suspensions, he needs someone else in the mix. In Wilcox we have an ex England international who has worked hard recently to break into the team after injury. He has recovered sooner than expected and I believe he has scored a few times in the reserves, completing 90 minutes comfortably on at least 2 occasions. He is older than most at the club but in the same way he does have a lot of experience. His mental attitude has been right and he has shown a hunger for games and a real spark since he has been back. We can also see that CL likes instances where experienced players show spirit and enthusiasm for the younger players to draw on. And thats not all, on his day Wilcox can provide the most telling of crosses! He has a decent shot on him too! Like people have said, CL wouldnt have offered a contract if he didnt have enough 'energy'!
Little Nicky Posted 20 May 2005 Posted 20 May 2005 Frankly, I want to tell you that all you doubters can go frig yourselves, give him a chance to prove his worth next season, I can see why Levein's taken the gamble, he's potentially a very good player and if he can find some form could do well for us! We're all willing to give De Vries a good pre-season, why not Jason? Come on guys, Foxes never Quit!

Before Wilcox got injured he was not doing too bad. Scored against Sheffield Utd and he was putting effort into the games. Just give him a chance.
posh_bird Posted 20 May 2005 Posted 20 May 2005 I dont get it? he struggled to keep up with the reserves so how has he got a contract? Scraping the barrel CL. Should have given daws his money.
supedaj Posted 20 May 2005 Posted 20 May 2005 struggled to keep up with reserves? how so - he was out injured until v late last season. Wouldnt have been a wise decision to thrust him straight back into the first team. He played for the reserves and did v well IMO
Cat Burger Posted 20 May 2005 Posted 20 May 2005 Yessss can't wait to see him in action next season...
Leicesterboi Posted 20 May 2005 Posted 20 May 2005 Give the guy a chance and after a run in hte first team come back and express your views then. He is a bit lightweight but has got some quality! i hope he proves a lot of people wrong for Leicesters sake
hinds12 Posted 21 May 2005 Posted 21 May 2005 the only possible reasons i can think of levien offering him a new contract are as follows. -he hasnt seen what we have seen in his games with us in the past. -he will add to the experiance -lack of other options on the left side as tiatto is never fit and stewart is no ryan giggs.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 May 2005 Posted 23 May 2005 Christ, what do you want, shall all of us start turning cartwheels? (Not you Jason, you might do your knee again). Just because I don't think we should have re-signed him doesn't mean I'm going to boo him as soon as he runs onto the pitch next season.
