foxoffderby Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 From Skysports.com Could be a Sousa target and is available on a free. Van der Gun could quit Swans Dutch winger lifts the lid on exit clause Van der Gun: Free to leave Cedric van der Gun has revealed that he is free to quit Swansea, should he wish to do so. The Dutch winger has an unusual agreement in place with club chairman Huw Jenkins that could enable him to become a free agent this summer. He struck a deal with Jenkins that stipulated he could walk away from the Swans should Paulo Sousa leave as manager. With the Portuguese coach having moved on to Leicester, that clause in Van der Gun's contract has been triggered. He has been quick to point out that there is no guarantee that he will be leaving, but should things fail to work out under new manager Brendan Rodgers his destiny now lies in his own hands. "I really don't know what will happen this season," the 31-year-old told Wales Online. "Pre-season has just started, there is a new manager and my whole situation is complicated. Talks "I do have a contract, but I can leave on a free transfer if I want. So you never know what is going to happen, especially with a new manager. "I signed for another year. But, if another club comes in for me, I can go. "The manager that signed me has gone. We have a new manager so I just want to play my best and I hope that he likes me. "Then we will have a talk and I can know what's going on for next season. I have to wait and see what will happen. "You have to ask the chairman his stance. But we agreed that, if a new manager came in, I could leave on a free if things didn't work out. "I know it's not a normal situation. I'm just saying where I stand. "The main difference for me is that normally, when a player has a contract, they can't leave. I can go on a free transfer."
