Wright Signs?

Story by Andy Beill 24 May 2005

The Tigers are reported to have signed Leicester City forward Tommy Wright.

Coventry City Mad reports that 20-year-old Wright has turned down the Sky Blues in order to join Hull City.

Wright joined Leicester's Academy while Peter Taylor was the Foxes boss, but didn't make his debut until after Taylor parted company with the club.

The 6ft striker has only made a handful of starts for the club, with most of his chances coming from the bench. He also went on loan to Brentford in 2003/04, and has represented England at Under-18 and Under-19 levels.

The rumours are unconfirmed at the moment.

Why would MA want him when he barely gave him a chance?

Trevor Benjamin was the same. Anyway, someone was sitting next to his dad at Plymouth and he said that Doncaster Rovers were very interested in him and were his probable destination.

Not necessarily - Benjamin played a number of games under Adams, particularly in our promotion season - Wright has never been provided that opportunity.

To be fair, I don't rate Wright, but I find it baffling that MA would want him after clearly not rating him while he was here.

Or maybe Coventry are just really shit?

Possibly, but I think that Micky must have seen something in training to suggest he can be useful

Bizzare. And although football is all about options, I find it strange that Levein says Wright isn't good enough for this league but Micky would still feel that he is.

And I know it's all about money etc, but I find it sad that a player that apparently loves us would go to the guy that almost killed us.

Well MB on another forum has this to say about this rumour. :D:D:thumbup:;)

This story is NOT true !!

thats good news then, i dont rate him at the minute but thats only because i havent seen him play so i cant judge him, i do think we should keep him though i mean only 20 years old and not had that much first team football yet im sure he could be decent for us given a run in the team.

There's a little snippet in the Mercury tonight about Tommy Wright possibly going to Hull City, Coventry City or Doncaster Rovers. Hello Bill Anderson. I get the feeling you've been reading what's being written on here. :)

He's not good enough at this level, even Levein can clearly see that. I can't say I've ever been impressed with Wright. He does seem to be a decent finisher, but technically he's not good enough. He also lacks strength and the ability to hold up the ball.

Tommy is definitely not going to hull. And he didnt even speak to coventry although they did want him. He is currently deciding between sheff wed, sheff utd, doncaster or staying.

he's a leicester boy through and through, has been ever since he was young. (yes i knew him) his only ever dream was to play for leicester or newcastle. if he was given the option to stay i would have no hesitation in saying he would. he only wants a chance to prove himself, and when has that chance come?......never to be honest, i cant remember one anyway...
