Sven on Logan and that goal

Sven-Goran Eriksson admitted he put his arm around dejected Conrad Logan after the goalkeeper's clanger ultimately proved the turning point in Leicester's 4-1 Carling Cup fourth-round defeat to West Brom.

Logan's costly error, with the tie finely balanced at 1-1, came when he inexplicably dropped Gianni Zuiverloon's long ball to the feet of Somen Tchoyi who was presented with a simple finish to put the Baggies in command - almost identical to the one presented to him by Manchester United stopper Edwin van der Sar 10 days ago.

But the former England coach insisted mistakes like these happen in football and rightly pointed to the impressive saves Logan made during the 90 minutes at the Walkers Stadium.

"Of course it's a mistake, everyone knows that and he knows that," said the Swede.

"That happens in football, but the third or fourth goals were worse.

"You know goalkeepers sometimes make mistakes, it was unlucky."

Asked whether Logan was apologetic afterwards, Eriksson added: "Of course. You can imagine how you feel when it's an important game, it's 1-1 when we are in the game and we have a good chance to win it.

"It happens in football, but he will not sleep very well tonight."

:o

what is he going to do to him ?

"He will not sleep well tonight" is hopefully a popular swedish saying meaning he is fooking gash and will never pull on a city shirt again. Useless fat ****.

I catch your drift

"he will not sleep very well tonight" is the Swedish equivalent of , " make him an offer he can't refuse ".

Conrad will have woken up with a reindeers head on the pillow this morning then

He ain't winning Slimmer of the Year.

He is both useless and fat. The only reason he is liked, much the same reason Chris Powell is, is because he stays out and plays penalty shoot outs while the real players go in and get ready to play football.

Did your workmates call for your sacking after every mistake you made at work? I doubt it and don't say you have never made a mistake a work we all have some small but perhaps some big ones. Footballers are human and they will make mistakes unfortunately goal keepers errors are often more costly. The outfielders rarely get put under the microscope like the goalkeeper does. My own view regarding Conrad is that he is a good back up keeper and/or a first team keeper in a lower division. Keep it in perspective Sven was giving a number of players their first start under him, this is the only way that he can assess their ability.

He's been shit for years and has ships an average of about 3 goals a game. Yesterday was the straw that broke this camels back.

You are ignoring the 20 goals that have hit the back of the net this season while he has supposed to be keeping them out.

How can he be a good back up keeper when he has let in so many goals in so few games, it isn't bad luck, it's just crap.

he is shocking has never and will never be good enough to be no. 1, unless he drops down the leagues

League of Ireland awaits.

It was pointed out by stringer last night that Logan was our longest serving player, fare play for being loyal Logan but i dont think you've had much say in the matter cuz nobody else wants you(SHITE COMES TO MIND!).We had all the momentum till he rubbed utterly butterly all over his gloves and we looked like we could nick it.We may not of one the competition but would of been nice to see us set our wits against the big boys! What happened to that Cisak??? He looked a good prospect, gotta be better than Logan.

As A Foxes fan exiled in Plymouth these days, I don't get to see City play "live" very often now but I still often wonder how Logan has managed to stay at the club for so long! Yes, he was probably an asset as a back up keeper when we were in League One two years ago but a Championship goalkeeper he most certainly ain't!! If I remember rightly, Pearson only played him once late on last season against M'Boro' at home when we were already confirmed a place off place, although admittedly he did save a penalty in that game. I do recall he was at Stockport on loan a year or two ago so was mystified why they never tabled a permanent bid for him! His clanger - a carbon copy of Edwin Van Der Sar's against the very same opposition ironically!! - was testament to his "not good enough" credentials. He was also between the sticks in thePortsmouth debacle so maybe he doesn't instill any confidence into the defence in front of him? What was wrong with Weale last night any rate Sven??

dont think of me as defending logan, more attacking your logic. if a carbon copy clanger to that of van der sar us testament to him not being good enough the same must be true of van der sar himself?

Fair play, I suppose what you're saying is that although you don't rate Logan either, all the same all keepers make mistakes, even old Edwin! Even he's living on borrowed time at the Mancs though. For some reason Ben Foster was symphoned off to Brum and nobody else appears to have stepped up to the plate to make the no.1 jersey their own, save for the Dutchman still. Presumably Kuczczak is still there though?

Although Logan isn't the slimmest, to be fair to him that picture is febuary 08 so I don't think it's quite so accurate of him now.

I've never been a massive fan of Logan and clearly his record just isn't good enough, but our defensive frailties from this season should not be cast aside.

He's not good enough to play a whole championship season in which we will be aiming for promotion, but he's getting more stick than he deserves.
