Frenzied Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 I'm totally apathetic towards the whole thing. It isn't like the game was 20 or so years ago, when English football could benefit from English players playing against Europe's finest. Liverpool FC is a football club that happens to be based in England. I get no feeling of jingoist pride from this result. I can't see why everyone else is getting their knickers in a twist over it. If City won the Champions League, qualifying by finishing 4th in the Premiership (which is the only realistic way we would do, and that's a pipe dream), do you think we would have the nation behind us, backing us all the way? I don't think so. 115437[/snapback] I agree with Lisa somewhat on this. I wouldn't say I was apathetic towards it - it was a great game. However, despite wanting Liverpool to win (being the English team), I wasn't particularly bothered if they didn't nor am I particularly bothered about the fact they have. In fact I would have been quite happy if they'd lost, as I dislike Liverpool FC. The thing that gets me though, is that there are Leicester fans (I'm sure no one on here though) that would have been cheering on Liverpool last night but boo Leicester City when they are frustrated with our performances. Some people need to get their priorities right. Anyway, the game had a great atmosphere and reminded me of certain days and nights watching Leicester - the Palace play-off final springs to mind especially. If we get behind the team we could help bring back the glory days of Leicester City and who knows, in seven or eight years time it could be us as champions of Europe - you never know.
C-man Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 I also slightly agree with lisa because liverpool's starting line-up was made of 2 englishmen. So although i am happy liverpool won, i can not say this just beacuse they are 'english', because their team is not.
