Clive Redman Posted 12 November 2010 Posted 12 November 2010 Walshy on classic encounters against Derby... "Saturday’s game is the big one for me, as Derby are the team the fans really want to beat. They are absolutely flying at the moment, which adds an extra bit of spice to the game, and as the Foxes faithful know so well, City have had a habit of bringing the Rams back down to earth with a bump in the past. "Two examples standout, the first is the 1994 Play-Off Final at Wembley when high-spending Derby, filled with big name players like Marco Gabbiadini, Mark Pembridge and Gordon Cowans, were favourites to win the game, but we broke their hearts with that famous 2-1 victory under the twin towers. To score the winning goal that day was probably the highlight of my career and I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve sold a signed photograph of me wheeling away celebrating. "The second example was our first visit to their new Pride Park ground back in 1998 when we thumped them 4-0 in front of the Sky Sports cameras, scoring all four goals in the first 15 minutes. Big Emile got two and Muzzy and Marshy grabbed one each and all of the goals came from headers. It was a proper silencing of the Rams as their fans were left completely shell-shocked. Let’s hope for more of the same tomorrow!" For more see... http://www.soarmagazine.co.uk/2010/11/12/steve-walsh-blog-time-to-silence-the-rams-again/
Webbo Posted 12 November 2010 Posted 12 November 2010 I remember a game at Filbert Street against Derby once where Walshy was taking a throw in in front of the Derby fans. They were all singing 'You fat bast@rd' at Walshy when he picked up the ball and bounced it against the advertising hoarding in front the fans making a loud bang. All the Derby fans literally flinched.
Uncle Monty Posted 12 November 2010 Posted 12 November 2010 No way, Walshy was at the Bull in C-thorpe. Times like these I still wished I lived there.
Alexikokopops Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 I watched the highlights of the 4-0 yesterday and still celebrated as though I was watching it live. I need to get out more
jonthefox Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 I watched the highlights of the 4-0 yesterday and still celebrated as though I was watching it live. I need to get out more oddly enough, thats exactly what i did last night. Maybe we could go out somewhere together?
