January - what do we need

I know some people hate these kind of threads but I am bored.

Out of our loan signings I think we will loose one or two.

If Sven rates Bednar maybe we'll buy him. Maybe we kan sign or extend the loan for two out of three of Cunningham/Davies/Naughton.

If we can do that I think the backline is solid because we also hopefully have Tuchev as an option.

I'd like to have a speedy winger (SWP-kind of style) and one more good central midfiellder (Stevie Ireland/Michael Johanson style).

I also think we need a more prolific striker someone who can but the ball in the net whenever (Batistuta, Owen, Van Nistelroy, Crespo style).

When I say style I don't mean those actual players just the type of players.

What do you reckon ? What do we need to compete this season and have a solid team for the next season especially if we (which I don't really belive - only dream of) should go up ?

We just need to retain the loan players either etending the loans or buying them. I think we will extend Cunnighams loan and perhaps Naughton. But I hope we can sign Naughton just to ease the fears of losing him. Can't see us buying Curtis Davies due to the asking price but lets see if he wants to manufacture a move to us. I don't really think we need any more additions except for possibly a wide man.

We've got a speedy winger in Dyer & he's falling out of favour as our midfield becomes a lot more hard-working at breaking down opposing attacks

It all comes down to where we are in the league, even being near the bottom Sven has convinced ex-England defender Davies and England U-19 Cunningham & England u-21 Naughton to come to us, if we can get in the pay-offs the sky is probably the limit.

One thing I'm concerned about though is a bloated squad with players unhappy at not playing, for example the last thing we want is an unhappy Fryatt & Waghorn unsettling Bednar, Vasell & Howard... and so on around every position.

Its just as important we ship out the players who can't do a job for us as it is sign fresh blood who can work well with Sven & Faz's tactics

We need to sign Davies first of all and then maybe look at getting a better striker in, someone who can finish, shouldn't leave the scoring burden to a Centre Mid even if he is our best player.

We already have one in Dyer and Vassel is also quite pacey so I don't think we need another pacey winger. And an attacking midfielder we have Kingy, Gallagher and Vassel play as attacking mid fielders and we also have Moussa on the bench But I would like:

1. Goal scoring striker (what do people think of maybe trying to get owen on loan because he is coming to the end of his career and is 4th/5th choice striker at man u)

2. To try and sign all loan players (but I know this is quite unrealistic so I would prioritise: 1. Davies 2. Naughton 3. Kirkland 4. Bednar 5. Cunningham
