The_Foxes_Legend Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 I always thought we need a good pacey winger Tiatto aint fast but his cross is okay , Stewart- could be fast but ended up losing ball/control now to Lee Morris I know he is injured all time but When he is not injured and play do he is pacey winger that Leicesteer need (oh and good quality crosses also needed!)
Cat Burger Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 I really can't think of anyone who would sign in these postions with a good reputation, unproven players are going make or break our future I feel.
Simon Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 I have no idea of a winger either... but I do like the pic of Rachel Unitt
Oli Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 We should of signed Carlos Edwards from Wrexhah, he is quality, fast skillful and can cross. Shame he has gone to Luton Town.
Mark Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 Richie Partridge is available for free. I'm sure we could get Jamal Campbell-Ryce pretty cheap. Tiatto isn't a left winger, and never will be a winger. Therefore, we have no left or right wingers in the squad, i didn't include Wilcox and Morris there, because those two are cripples. Forget the defence for now, that is already the most solid part of our squad. Lets do an Ipswich. Let's get some wingers in, and get some strikers in who have an eye for goal. Lets score some goals, and take that route. Ipswich prove you can get into the playoffs with a shit defence. Our's is already better than theres, what isn't, is the midfield and attack. SORT THAT OUT.

Jonbluefox9 Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 If we haven't got any pacey wingers and we don't buy any then we'll have to change the way we play. Might not be a bad idea considering we haven't got a striker who's brilliant at heading (remember Dion Dublin upfront at the start of the season. He was timing his jumps as poorly as MDV). If we're going to start with Connolly and MDV upfront then I don't see the point in getting quality balls in from the wings when both of them prefer the ball on the deck.

Scow Posted 30 May 2005 Posted 30 May 2005 Watching West Ham today makes you realise how dangerous a team can be if you have an oultet on the wing (Etherington) who stays wide, and runs at defenders. As it looks like we'll only be playing with one real winger, we need to either sign someone in the mould of Partridge or Campbell-Ryce to ensure we have that threat on one flank at least. Ipswich play a similar style of football - They usually play one side with an out and out winger (i.e Westlake/Currie) and play Magilton in a right sided position, who tucks inside to collect the ball from the back 4 and initiate attacks. That then allows Wilnis to bomb forward down the right, however, this in turn leaves them vunerable defensively.

I think our main problem could be the defensive aspect of the central midfield, if he's planning on playing Hughes and Williams. Let's face it, Joey isn't good enough and never will be. Kisnorbo could be the answer but who knows? Reports don't sound that promising. IMO our central midfielders are crying out to be played in a 5-3-2 with Tiatto at left wing-back and Maybury at right wing-back but we are desperately short of central defenders. If we're going to play 4-4-2 then Sylla will have to be one of the key players in the side. Is he up to it?
