zynxus Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Im always proud to be a Leicester City fan. im a Fox forever have been since the dawn of time or at least as long as i can remember. Up the City - sidenote, although they are a very expensive outfit etc etc i do hope Manchester City go on to win the cup or the league this year as its so boring seeing Chelski and Man U etc etc win every year!! thats true, but im dont like the attitude of some man city players i would rather see arsenal (or spurs though unlikely) what an effort 2night... cant wait til vassel and yakubu link together!
The Doctor Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 My favourite moment was when Lloyd Dyer squared up to Patrick Vieira. I genuinely thought he was gonna nut him! first two man city had a go at though, tevez squaring up to wellens then viera/kompany (can't remember which) having a bit of a pop at howard. Not the wisest choices by any stretch of the imagination. edit: Vestan Pance, the reason we are proud of this, look at the two starting lineups: Weale - free naughton - loan (fee rumoured to be about 1m from what i remember) bamba - 250k hobbs - 500k (don't think the fee was ever disclosed but rumoured about half a mill) Berner - free Abe - uknown, probably around 750k wellens - unknown - rumoured to be 1.2m king - youth team graduate dyer - free gallagher - 1m (as far as i remember it was never disclosed but again rumoured 700k - 1m) Howard - 1.5m (again just rumoured fee as far as i remember) total cost of our squad: £6.2m Hart: 500k (rumoured) Kompany - unknown Zableta - unknown Kolorov - 18m (rumoured) Lescott - 24m milner - 30m (if including value of stephen ireland) johnson - 11m (can't remember exactly but certain it was around this mark) Silva - 25m (rumoured) Viera - free Y. Toure - 20m (not sure, think it was around this) Tevez - 30m total cost of their squad: £158.5m (plus whatever kompany and zableta cost) and yet we were by no means disgraced
Starkwell Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 I said to my fellow supporters last night, and after the first leg that these were not just matches against a top premier league team - we weren't just competitive at that level, but the players we were up against are champions league quality... that's how good we were over the two legs
RizLCFC Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Zabaleta £6.5 million Kompany £6 million Total Cost: £171 million We haven't even spent 5% of that on our side yesterday. Well done lads you were awesome!
VinceNoir Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 We were great last night. Brilliant to watch, even though we lost.. Really positive to go there and have a go at them. Neutrals watching the game must have gained a little respect for us after that show! Fabregas even acknowledged us on his twitter. That's pretty cool! On an other note, does anyone else think that Gally will miss a penalty soon? He always uses that technique and blasts it down the middle every time, sometimes slightly to the right, sometimes slightly to the left. Surely, some teams will pick up on that... Dunno if it's just me. I guess i'm always nervous when Leicester play. Great effort yesterday!

Well done lads you were awesome! Sky Sports says their team was the most expenisve starting line-up in FA Cup history, at £162 million.
Alexikokopops Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 So if we are proud of losing 4-2 what will we feel when we actually achieve something of note? Come on, maybe getting to a penalty shoot-out for a non League side would have been something to feel proud about. We are the 8th largest City in England, we need to be aiming higher. Let's drop this 'Little Leicester' attitude. If you look at it by unitary area, then the top ten of the Premiership could be something like this, with us sitting comfortably in the Championship as 25th biggest: Premiership: 1. Birmingham City 2. Leeds United 3. Sheffield Wednesday 4. Truro City 5. Darlington 6. Bradford City 7. Manchester City 8. Swindon Town 9. Liverpool 10. Bristol Rovers It's almost as though population size isn't the only thing that matters in the final Premier League standings. Who knew?
lcfc_jme Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Sky Sports says their team was the most expenisve starting line-up in FA Cup history, at £162 million. You've stolen my stat, Dexter. <_< <_< Although when you consider that, and then the match-stats of the game (even if they did take the piss by bringing on Fat Barry and Jo), we really, really didn't disgrace ourselves. Superb.

I should imagine that teams like Exeter and Plymouth come high above us too. What you have to remember is that we may be the 8th biggest City in England, but some of the bigger cities, London, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, have far more than double our population and more than one team. So, as well as Birmingham City, you could probably get Villa and West Brom innto Birmingham's Unitary Area and it would still be bigger than Leicester. Also, due to the nature of our geography and the close proximity of 3 other similarly sized cities (and a much larger one not that much further away) I would argue that the core supporter coverage (at least, of those that SHOULD support city!) doesn't estend much beyond the city boundaries. By the time you get out to Loughborough for instance, there's pretty much an equal divide of City, Forest, County. And incase you haven't notice (and BlueBrett will back me up on this ) Leicester has a large migrant population (legal or otherwise) that may be only one or two generations association with Leicester and so less of an attachment and an inclination to support their home town club.
The MayneFox Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Thats why i love Leicester the feeling when seeing your team scoring a goal and the ball rippling the net, is one only true fans can have! none of this glory support, they dont know the feeling we get about OUR club. OUR boys gave their hearts out, and thats all i asked for tonight Proud To Be a Fox
stockyfox Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 What an atmosphere! We were on the Left Side (Just) on the Front Row (A) and it was absolutely fantastic with 6000 Foxes fans behind us singing and cheering from start to finish. Alright, I've been a City fan since 1949 but, for me, last night will rank with one of the most enjoyable games I have ever attended. To hell with the result, we lost, so what? We were treated to some superb football from City. Make no mistake, this was multi millionaire Man City, currently riding high in the PL, but for all their 'star' players, we gave them two games to remember. On paper , they could have won by a cricket score - but they didn't, because Foxes Never Quit - not even when their 4th goal went in. And wasn't that a great thought by Martyn Waghorn after the final whistle when he came over to us and threw his shirt into the crowd which the chap two along from me managed to grab. Yes! I was really truly proud to be a City fan and even more so to be part of and in the company of our fantastic, wonderful fans. Real chuffed I was, dead chuffed but why didn't we play like that at Preston?
