JamesLCFC Posted 11 February 2011 Author Posted 11 February 2011 And you didn't ask for feedback you asked for people to look at your site. I'm asking a serious question here, do you genuinely think that people will pay you £100 to design a site for them? I wouldn't invest too much time and effort into it as people who want websites designed usually will go to a professional company or individual. thank you for your feedback? i appreciate you think that peopel wont pay £100 for that!
Guest DavidJCW Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 Seriously mate, whether you're 15 or not is no excuse. That site is shocking... if you're paying for hosting then all you need is to be able to code a site properly and have at least some design skills and that, I'm afraid, isn't how you do it. If you want people to come to you looking for help building them a site, you need to have a top notch site yourself, not something that in all honesty (I'm a web designer) could be built in a couple of hours... if that.

Guest DavidJCW Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 Fair enough, thanks for the feedback Sorry if I sounded harsh, but it's the truth... people will only buy off others with a really good site. Try looking at other websites that are at the top of the Google rankings or indeed, somewhere like Template Monster. I know it sounds silly, but there are a lot of good templates that you could use for inspiration in coming up with a really nice site. My advice would be to look around and see what other people are doing with their sites and see what take you can have on it.

Guest BlueBrett Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 it is critically important to have a website built that sets your business apart from your competitors to make it unique from everyone else Your website is certainly unique Good luck with making your improvements and developing better sites in the future. I know nothing at all about website design so I can't really give you much constructive criticism like DavidJCW has. What I would say however is maybe get your mum to have a little check of your spelling and grammar next time.

Houdini Logic Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 All jokes aside (and you set yourself up for a lot of them) at least it's a website of sorts and this could easily be pitched at B&Bs, local sweet shops, pet shops, etc - general older/independent businesses owned by technophobes - simply because it's so cheap and, well it's something at least. We've all searched for B&Bs at some point and witnessed the crap that's out there - Exhibit A Much rather than you were doing this that what I was doing at 15 - Go for it I say
danny. Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 Thats the software used bud, i designed the site for complete scratch, think again before you try and take the piss Oh from scratch, so you wrote the HTML and CSS by hand in notepad did you? I thought you had just used an online tool to create a template-based site. I just read you are 15 though, fair play, good to see you are entrepreneuring. I think you will struggle to get any work though from businesses as they will, like David said, use a design agency or skilled freelancer most of the time. If you get better at the web design though consider charging more, £100 for a 10 page site is so cheap it will put people off, a decent site of that size will be more like £1500-3000 from a design agency. Good luck

Unit Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 in 15, year 10 of school, that site may look "shit" but thats because the software i use is why the designing a website is so cheap, you dont think 10 pages for £100 is cheap? http://www.webcreationuk.com/?gclid=COPszavxgKcCFUYifAodKVJAdw think you'll find that you can buy 10 page sites for £495, so £100 is quite good. Im 15 as i reattirate again, i put this on to foxes talk as, incase you havent realised yet im a leicester fan, and i was wanting some postitive/negative feedback, instead i just get my fellow leicester fans take the piss, im dissapointed. Just remember im 15 and ive made more money then you did at 15 and thats a fact through other businesses :-)! I made about 4 grand in my summer holiday when I was 15 by ripping off adsense, beat that!
JamesLCFC Posted 11 February 2011 Author Posted 11 February 2011 I made about 4 grand in my summer holiday when I was 15 by ripping off adsense, beat that! should be young businessman of the year with income like that at 15 ;D

Good luck Spot on there... though depending on the functionality of the site, prices will vary, a 10 page Magento will be upwards of £5000... I'm not 100% on the exact amount, but it'll be a lot. As has been said on here though, your simple sites could easily sell as a replacement to some much poorer sites that are several years old. Trust me, I've seen some shockers out there.
Houdini Logic Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 Sounds like there could be a 'best and worst websites' thread coming up. Always thought this one was clever
MPH Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 quick question..... Is your real name Craig Adams, 22 ?
Houdini Logic Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 Sounds like there could be a 'best and worst websites' thread coming up. Always thought this one was clever ...with potentially a 'most pointless website' section The Lighter Club of Great Britain
