    Depression

It's all will power unfortunately, but stuff that I found helped: - Buy nice drinks, don't just switch to Vimto and coke, treat yourself to some nice non alcoholic drinks like Fever Tree do some great tonic mixers, not cheap but feels more like you're having an adult drink than a squash. - Non alcoholic beers are good if you are used to sitting there having can after can in the evening, if you are more spirits wine you can't really replace these but drinking something keeps your mouth and hands busy - Find something to do with your hands when you usually drink, ie if it's after work in the evenings then do a jigsaw or build a model aircraft, or paint toy soldiers, build some lego. it keeps your brain concentrated on something and your hands too full to hold a glass/can. - Exercise, although this is hard because you probably feel horrendous all the time now and going for a jog will make you nauseous. After any withdrawal symptoms have calmed down try doing 30 mins walking a day and then see if you can progress to just some press ups/sit ups or maybe a 15 minute job, one step at a time. That will make you feel massively better. - Stop watching the news or reading it online. Everything is terrible and it's easy to go into a doom spiral. You don't need to know about 3 billion bad things happening each day, there is nothing you can do about them, and it won't improve your mood. Hope this helps and maybe works for you too. Inbox always open if you want to talk.
  3. Sounds like added time mutli-ball!
  4. I don't disagree. I still don't like it. You could say FPTP is also normal, but I really don't like that either. We live in a completely different time to when our parliamentary system was established, and I feel we could definitely look at changing our systems to make people feel more connected to politics, and to give parties a mandate for the things that are doing. Probably will never happen, or not for a long time but it's a forum to air thoughts, right?
  5. Ohme are great with Octopus. I've been using an Ohme Commando socket version for 5 years. Cost < £300 back then and never had an issue. Looks like it's closer to £500 now but still way cheaper than most - https://www.electricpoint.com/ohme-go-commando-7kw-tethered-type-2-smart-ev-charger.html
  6. Yea, I agree with you there - a change in tack to react to changes is totally fair and just common sense. I meant more like when digital ID came out of nowhere - that wasn't in the manifesto and in fact they specifically ruled it out, and now it's slipping back in via the backdoor with the U16 social media ban - also not in the manifesto. The Lords is a great guardrail but is it a good use of time if it's there is get rid of policies not in a manifesto - just feels like a sneaky way to try to get in new policies without ever seeking a mandate.
  7. Why do we have the highest energy prices in the world, then, if it's all set internationally, and only wholesale prices are a factor in end user pricing?
  8. I'm less bothered by PMs that aren't "elected" in, as others have said already, we don't vote for a PM, we vote for local MPs. It does bother me when parliaments bring in things not in their manifesto, though. They really do have no mandate for that. If the government want to bring in something they didn't explicitly declare in their manifesto it should go to a referendum or call a fresh GE as the current setup means whoever is in power can, within reason (obviously we have some guardrails), bring in anything - not just policies people voted for.
  9. he literally doesn't understand basic numeracy, no chance at him doing a good job in this position
  10. is this a prediction or who we'd like? Because surely it's nailed on Burnham in terms of who it will be.
  11. Semantic inflation is a real problem
  12. I'm not sure what the value of that is though, in response to the post I made that you replied to. You can find examples of almost anything in almost any demographic or system. I'm sure there is someone in the Taliban who has done lots of very nice things and a Buddhist monk that is a serial killer.
  13. It was 100% a penalty for me. Thought it was in real time and looked even worse on the replay. Clear contact and didn't win the ball.
  14. I'm sure you'll find an example of anything if you look hard enough. Not much value in that though, you'd need to look at a significant amount of data and at ideologies and systematic implementation of those. If you can find examples of the very worst USA Churches i.e. Westboro Baptist doing the kind of things – I am not going to go into detail here as I will be banned from here too – that the Taliban do then I'd love to see it.
  15. I think people get banned for anything that’s going to start/escalate an argument. Which is understandable if not frustrating - it is meant to be a news thread (although it’s become the politics thread of sorts). Having a dedicated politics thread would be an alternative, but it would need a caveat that arguing is allowed, still probably isn’t something the mods of a football forum want the headache of if it is to be moderated.
  16. One country doesn’t just ostracise non-believers… comparing the Taliban with anyone from the US is just disingenuous misinformation. The very worst of fundamental Christianity isn’t anywhere near on a par with the Taliban Islamists, if you think that you’re woefully uninformed.
  17. You're describing many posters on here, not just Tommy and Kenny
  18. Do you genuinely believe this?
  19. Yea so nice. Just whack the climate control on 15 mins before you get back in, game changer. Same in the winter too.
  20. They're still paper, aren't they? But you can actually drink things through them now. The milkshakes were impossible to drink using the old straws! You got like 1-2 sucks (ooo err!) before it stopped working.
  21. Bold of you to assume there is an end
  22. This is quite shocking to read. A fried beef tomato half is amazing in a fry up.
  23. Are you including a fry up in this?
  24. It doesn’t matter what people think, though, the average person has no power. They don’t get to choose the direction of global affairs. Those choices are made for us and we have, every now and then, the illusion of democracy.
