davieG Posted 3 June 2005 Posted 3 June 2005 Notts have today had to make a quick change to their pre-season programme, with the game against Leicester City being postponed, but the Magpies have landed themselves another clash against a Championship side. The Leicester game, set to be played on Monday 25 July at 7:45pm, but due to the Foxes landing the opportunity to face Inter Milan that week, the game has mutually agreed by both clubs to be cancelled. Notts have however swiftly acted to arrange another home clash, with George Burley's Derby County to make the visit to Meadow Lane on Tuesday 26July with the game getting underway at 7:30pm. Club Secretary Tony Cuthbert explained: "Leicester got the chance to play Inter Milan that week so we set about finding another friendly over the last few days, and we agreed something with Derby. "Leicester are awaiting confirmation of a date with Inter but we decided we could not hang on and opted to cancel the game and finalise our game with Derby. "They have promised to bring a full strength side, and we are looking to have another home game on Saturday 16 July. We are currently in the process of trying to arrange that, and another game in the following midweek too," he added. The Rams enjoyed a fantastic season last time out, finishing fourth and landing a playoff place but were unlucky to slip up against Preston over two legs after injuries took their toll. A number of free transfer signings boosted the squad, who include two former Magpies in Paul Boertien and Michael Johnson. Boertien enjoyed a brief loan spell with Notts in the 2003/04 season under Gary Mills' leadership, while Johnson was a graduate of the youth system and was an Anglo-Italian Cup winner with the Magpies in 1994 Source - Notts County OS?
