ajthefox Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 Still possible but our chances are slipping with every point lost. The last 3 games have been very damaging. Very sensible post and I think you've summed it up. Any points from yesterday would've been good so a loss is hardly something we should worry about but coming out of our last 3 games with just 1 point is pretty bad and if we don't buck the trend now and get at a win against Norwich I fear we'll end up missing out, but it's not over by a long way. The game at home to Burnley in a few weeks will probably be massive.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 You can read positives into any situation. A few games ago I was more confident of getting into the play-offs, but not of winning them, because of the quality of the other teams above us. But if we get into the play-offs from our position today, it will require a fantastic run to have achieved it. It follows that we will be the most in-form team when the play-offs start, and therefore in the perfect position to "do a Blackpool" and to gain promotion. Now, where did I put that white powder... fookin crack you must be on
dave the caveman Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 jesus - we are 5 points off with 11 games to go and have been averaging 2.1 points per game since the turn of the year. it's still very much possible. Possible, but unlikely. There are at least six teams playing for one spot. We will need to equal or be better than Hull, Reading, Portsmouth and Watford, as well as being much better than both Leeds and Burnley to get in. That means more than 2.1 points per game and we don't have the benefit of a bunch of relatively easy fixtures like we did at the start of the year. We need a miracle imho.

CosbehFox Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 We need a miracle imho. Not really when you consider we'd be fourth if we won our three games recently which proves how easy the rest of the pack drop points.
dave the caveman Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 Not really when you consider we'd be fourth if we won our three games recently which proves how easy the rest of the pack drop points. Ah, the old, 'if we'd won more games we'd be in a better position' argument. I can imagine that was how Paulo Sousa tried to keep his job.
Brown Fox Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 Thinking about it, last season with 12 games to go we ended up winning 7, drawing 1 and losing 4 ending up with 76 points. I see no reason why we cannot repeat that. We can afford to lose 3 more games this season and the good thing is we probably won't! So the QPR game counts as 1 loss so basically if we win 7, draw 1 and lose 3 of our next 11 games we should be there or thereabouts! The 7 wins coming from: Burnley (H), Boro (A), Palace(H) , Pompey(H), Ipswich (H), Watford(H), Donny (A) 1 draw against Norwich (H) 3 losses from Scunny (A), Forest (A), Reading (A) I see that as quite realistic, winning 5 home games out of the remaining 6 and losing 3 of the 5 away games, can still gives us 76 points! Anybody else agree?

jamiegoode Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 Im glad we are just staying up, when pearson lefted i thought its all going to go to shit [we will do a portsmouth, leeds, cov] but with out splashing to cash and going into fiancial trub, top 10 finish will be brilliant, then the owners can let SGE spalsh the cash and bring in all that talent , then next season we can own the championship
Haydos Posted 6 March 2011 Posted 6 March 2011 Just curious and not having a go, but do you think we will lose more than 3 of our next 11 games? I rarely look beyond our next game. I think it's very possible that we could lose more than 3 of our next games if we hit a slump. I feel we have what it takes for a playoff push but I don't see what basis people predict 11 matches in the future on. Everyone thought Cov would be a given. I did and was disappointed but I accept that results aren't always going to be as you think and making vague predictions like that is pretty much worthless. The truth is we have a very good chance of winning 10 out of the 11 remaining games (the 1 being Forest in which I think we'll be outsiders) but realistically we're not going to do that. I will be taking each one at a time but each to their own.

I will be taking each one at a time but each to their own. Fair play. But I think we're in that little slump now which was inevitable because you can't win them all. But personally I do like to look in the future and try and predict even though I shouldn't because we're so unpredictable. I should really try and look at it one game at a time but I just can't because if Leicester aren't playing the only thing I think about is our next game then I get that in my head and think of the next game. Basically Leicester has destroyed my brain.
