Scunthorpe pitch

Scunthorpe's pitch is more like a beach, very little grass, will not/ does not encourage passing football. Coupled with this is that it is narrow (just meets the minimum requirements) and short. Although born in Leicester and a city supporter I live in Scunthorpe.

i also expect Scunthorpe to scrap for every ball, I am not expecting a pretty game more an in your face battle, both teams need to win, the team that wants it the most will get it. For this match you want those who will battle for the cause. I expect/hope a narrow victory for City :scarf::chant:

This is what I said to my brother, if we couldn't play our passing football then we've no chance on the Scunthorpe pitch.

Although i'm normally optimistic, I'm very worried about this game; with us out of form and us probably not being able to play our passing football, i fear the worst.

We might have a chance if the pitch doesn't suit passing football, as that part of our game disappeared at half time against direby. But on the other hand if the team that battles and wants it more are to win then scunny have the better chance. I'm thinking 1-0 city, but then I thought we would win 3-1 last night!

Pitch sizes have been raised in threads relating to the QPR and Scunthorpe matches but don't seem to have cropped up so regularly in the past.

I know that pitch sizes have to be registered with the Football League before the season starts but that information does not seem to be accessible by the public online. Does anyone know of a reliable website to satisfy my obsessional needs.

According to http://soccervoice.com/groundsch.htm the following information is shown

1. Coventry, Derby, Millwall and Swansea have pitches equalling the UEFA minimum for European games - 105 X 68 yards.

2. LCFC 110 X 76 yards

3.Scunthorpe 111 X 73 yards

4. QPR 112 X 72 yards

5. Reading 102 yards - shortest pitch

6. Leeds 117 yards - longest pitch

7. Coventry, Derby, Millwall and Swansea - narrowest pitches - 68 yards

8. Hull, Notts Forest - widest pitches - 78 yards

It seems strange that no standard size pitch is imposed although I suppose the quality of the pitch surface is always going to vary through the season depending on the weather, pitch construction etc.. To answer my own thought process - the discrepancies between sizes probably don't make much difference on a practical basis. I feel better haven't got that off my chest!

Who gives a shit on the condition of the pitch? They are pro footballers and in the same boat as scunny!

Also this passing football bollocks aswell? Making us sound like barca or something. It hasn't been good recently since derby, most of the players would have struggled to make a pass at their wife when they got home on tues night.
