Whilst that probably gives a good indication, it's by no means certain.

Even in a labour-lib dem coalition I doubt there would be as much spotlight or emphasis put upon Clegg as there is now because the parties seem(ed) far more compatible than the two we have now, meaning that Clegg wouldn't have backtracked as much and wouldn't be so fiercely despised by some people.

All true, although I expect he would have found a way to worm himself into the spotlight and annoy people nonetheless!
