broughtonblue Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 On a lighter note from some of the bitching on here, anyone see the six coppers walk all the way past the east stand in single file near the end of the game, the back five went into the tunnel at the end under sk1 leaving the front one to carry on past the kop on his own. He looked fuming when he realised his mates had left him and he had to walk back on his own! Looked a proper tool as well
ScouseFox Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Yeah he was walking along on his bill looking all smug and superior. Only to turn round and see he'd gone the wrong way, in front of the Kop, poor sod.
m00nie Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 dont know why they sent them to the family stand.. was small kids and parents all round where they came.. one kids went to walk on the concourse as gally walked up to him to give him his boots and the stewards dragged him back.. lad was only about 7..

Yeah thought it was a massive over reaction by both police and stewards, as we weren't celebrating anything don't think there was any chance of a pitch invasion
lcfc"weasel" Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 There was no need for them anywhere in the stadium at all on that day. Absolutely no animosity between ourselves and Ipswich fans and virtually zero chance of an en masse pitch invasion.
Fosse Boy Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Way too many there yesterday. Absolutely pointless presence (as it is most games actually). Still, it's a cash cow and it's far easier to get your arrest statistics up by catching someone running on a football pitch than it is to catch an actual criminal.
poggypogpog Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 As a nark. I agree with the above. The only reason we were there though was because the club asked for more. They didn't want a pitch invasion, which we all know wasn't going to happen.
Guest Bilo Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I swear we'll have the entirety of the Leicestershire Constabulary if we go into the last game of next season needing something to get promoted. We need a pitch invasion one day though, give us some smashing memories at this ground at last.
poggypogpog Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Oh and for the record, there is no extra pay for footy matches and we were told not to follow people onto the pitch. That's the stewards job. Nothing worse than being on YouTube after running around like an idiot being made to look a fool (which we do anyway in those hats!)

poggypogpog Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 If i'd have made an ass out of myself in front of the kop I'd hold my hands up and use it as a claim to fame. I was stuck in the tunnel in the away section all game. Not exactly glamour! At least I got to see Wellens Jnr score a cracker.

Surely not if it's an "arrestable offence" and therefore a matter for the law?

Yeah I think he needed to acknowledge the fans having a laugh at him, tip his hat or a quick wave would have bought a few more cheers
poggypogpog Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Honestly, we were told not to follow people onto the pitch. What happens after the stewards bring them off the pitch is a different matter I'm sure. The atmosphere was electric.

poggypogpog Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Not taking the piss. Thought There was a good atmosphere.
broughtonblue Posted 8 May 2011 Author Posted 8 May 2011 Not taking the piss. Thought There was a good atmosphere. Ok sorry, just the words 'atmosphere & electric' have never been used before when in a conversation regarding the 'walkers stadium'
poggypogpog Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I get your point. I'm sure there will be plenty to cheer about next season. Hopefully I can get to more games rather than work them.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 When I was with Thames Valley Police, I never got into the grounds at Reading, or Wycombe Wanderers. Always on duty outside.. Mind you, I don't suppose I missed much!
EnglishOxide Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Still, it's a cash cow and it's far easier to get your arrest statistics up by catching someone running on a football pitch than it is to catch an actual criminal. Yes, because people running onto the pitch is a regular occurance What are you talking about?
Houdini Logic Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Think it's amusing that the people singing 'we paid for your hats' are the sort of people who's house, wife, kids and aquascutum scarf we're also paying for.
Fosse Boy Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Yes, because people running onto the pitch is a regular occurance What are you talking about? What I'm saying is there was absolutely no need for the police presence there was on Saturday. It was about as hostile as a village coffee morning.
