Bellend Sebastian Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 This appetite for violent confrontation with the criminal classes is enchanting, but I'm more of a pussycat myself and before I start bludgeoning intruders or stabbing them in the face I think I'd call the police. I'm not some coiled spring only being held back by doubts over the legality or otherwise of bashing someone's brains in, I'd probably be paralysed with fear if someone did break into my house while I was in it, which is why my home security is pretty good because I'd rather it didn't happen in the first place. The bloke in Salford was never going to be charged in those circumstances and if I've said it once I've said it a dozen times, the law is pretty clear on this. If some populist political gesture means that burglars start taking knifes and firearms with them as a matter of course then that would be shit, wouldn't it?

If that's the case you would have expected them to make the decision in less than a month . And stop being a spoilsport , maybe you don't want to confront burglars but if someone else wants to give them a good old stab or a beating with a 9 iron then let them be
Daggers Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 More to this than meets the eye. This doesn't paint the picture of waking up in the night and defending yourself in your home in the darkness........................ This suggests possible connotations of catching somebody in the act of attempting to break in and stabbing them to death.................. We'll have to wait for the evidence/full story to make a judgement on this. I have a 14" knife next to the bed just for this event. If someone comes into my house without my permission I am prepared to use it in order to incapacitate them. If anybody would like to avoid being stabbed I suggest they refrain from breaking into my house.
