Fair game, Burglary can be a terrifying ordeal for anyone, and the fact that there was a game of them, makes it worse.

Not that I condone anyone being murdered, but surely it's self defence.

More to this than meets the eye.

This doesn't paint the picture of waking up in the night and defending yourself in your home in the darkness........................

This suggests possible connotations of catching somebody in the act of attempting to break in and stabbing them to death..................

We'll have to wait for the evidence/full story to make a judgement on this.

He is correct here.

Though if its geniune self defence no sympathy, if I felt me or any of my immediate family were in 0.01% danger from someone who has broken into my house to steal the things I work hard for I wouldnt think twice about doing the same thing.

I came to the forums today looking for transfer news and the recently added topics greeted me with this bombshell!

I think multiple stabs are out of order. That's just gratuitous. The unwritten rule is that you are allowed one free stab then the burglar has to exit the building.

Wonder if the Daily Mail and The Sun will so eagerly support this geezer.

Its always a difficult one to comment on especially as we don't have the actual events what went on inside the house, I know in America you are allowed to defend your property with lethal force (although different states my have differnces in the law) we know thats not true in england.

Ummm, probably best i reserve my judgement until i know at least some of the facts... however, no-one has the right to take anothers life.

There is a big difference between 1) waking up to find someone in your house, being threatened and killing someone in defending yourself and your family, and 2) Hearing someone trying to open a door or window into your house, and instead of shouting at them to leave and calling the police, grabbing a knife while under no immediate threat, opening said door and chasing them down and stabbing them to death.

I have no idea which sort of incident this will end up being found to be, however my point is there is a wide range of events which can be described as has been reported here.

It's alright, he'll say something hilarious about David Cameron within twenty four hours - at most - and you'll return to normal.

You're obviously not a military man as you've lost the element of surprise doing that , You should creep up quietly and stab them

But I'd never feel the need to do anything like that .asI've wire up all the doors and windows to the mains electricity so they'd be electrocuted before they got in .

it's a bit of a nuisance having to going around at night in 3 inch thick rubber soled boots in case i forget though

Man of the people is Dave. We've got a picture of him at work standing on a pallet and everything.

what if one stab and the intruder still comes at you? do you stop and ask him to leave politely because you have used up your allowance..

sounds like more than just self defence to me, but the exact circumstances could quite easily change that.

I can't imagine how stabbing someone is 'reasonable force'. And i can't see how in a general house breaking how the any lives should be in danger.

A gang of four people burgling a suburban house doesn't however sound very ordinary, one suspects that there is more to this than meets the eye. Also, if it was self defence why have all three been arrested, did they all join in.

If it were me? i'd just get the hell out - i like my stuff, but nothing i own is worth dying or going to prison for. There shouldn't be any reason to require self defence unless one provokes the burglar into an attack - he just wants his booty and to go, not a knife fight.

If this was a genuine burglary then it could and should have been avoided, but i suspect it's anything but.

In my opinion, fair game. Any criminal activity is bad, and burgulary can be scary for anyone of any age.

I think I'd defend myself, I couldn't bring myself round to killing anyone but I'd certainly defend myself. They shouldn't have been robbing in the first place.

The government should enable people to defend themselves, like in America.

It's interesting that Switzerland has the lowest crime rate in Europe and yet in almost every household there's a bloke whose got his government-issue service rifle - and they are trained to use them.

They also have very high rates of recycling. I think both can be attributed to them being nice people more than anything
