foxes2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 i dont like the fact that football clubs are being talked about like toys on this program by the potential owners, of course we all want leicester promoted but deals like are being talked about can quickly go bad if your club starts doing badly. we have to protect our football clubs the FA should really do something about this.
Guest MattP Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Please keep the font normal. The FA wont do anything because they are scared of the top clubs in England, Germans arent scared and will take decisions to make thier league fairer and make sure it benefits the national team. The premier league is no longer an English league in reality, its a global league that is just based in England and does nothing but damage the English game.

Ozwin Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Just watched it. Makes you really wonder what is actually going on. I mean I think we all assumed something fishy was going on but still, this makes it kind of real now. I suppose this being aired can only be a good thing though. If they really are keen on selling us on in a few seasons then they must be targetting some very big figures because the amount we're spending isn't like any other club who get taken over. We're really going for it.

ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 first of all when was this programme filmed, that would give us a lot more depth knowledge. they mention sheffield wednesday being available but at the same time, we are not. they are suggesting that we were taken over by Top and co but MM still hadn't purchased Sheff Weds? Something about Channel 4's knowledge doesn't seem right to me. Am i right in saying that we are mainly owned by KP, their family run business? They were not menitoned once in that ludicrous programme. Personally i believe the vast amount of money being invested into our club is coming from King Power, Other clubs, such as Birmingham and Cardiff were mentioned, but none of their official sites have given the same response we have. We have cleared our name in this mess, and I for one and looking forward to an historical season.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 ALSO ALSO ASLO, the money that is funding Leicester, i'm sure, comes from Vichai himself as he is worth $180m

We're really going for it. spot on.... I'd also like to point out people are talking about 'the amount of money spent off the pitch'.......... training ground, megastore, big screens etc.... The owners aren't spending all this money because they love us, and think as fans of, or players for LCFC we deserve better facilites, they are spending money off the pitch because that is quite simply the safest place to spend the money whilst adding value to the overall 'price' of our club. A player's value is only as much as he is worth at that moment. If Matt Mills breaks both legs and all of his toes become dislocated, and doesnt play for a season and a half he'll be worth squat. Where as money spent on permanent fixtures such as training ground, megastore etc is basically an investment in property.. adding to the overall value of the club for potential sale.

We're really going for it. Personally I am pretty happy with where we are at this time. It is hardly surprising that in the rarified community of football club owners a lot of people 'know' or 'have met' each other, I am also not surprised that there are a fair number of crooks and bullshit merchants involved. About the only area of concern is that the ultimate ownership of the club is not crystal clear, this is hardly unusual in the real world but I guess it would be nice to know. So far the Raksriatskorn family (Kingpower) have behaved quite superbly in the matter of running our club. Bringing in Sven, backing him to get us up last season, a really long shot that almost paid off, then rather than getting hump, backing him again this summer is exceptional. Add to this the money being spent on the stadium, training ground etc and it is hard to see what they could have done better. Throw in the brilliant PR, Real Madrid at the KP...., Top and Vichai turning up at preseason games, sitting with (well close to anyway) some City fans who had made the trip, the 'chat' with Stringer and I am generally impressed. So who cares if they plan to sell the club a few years down the line? At present they are working hard to grow the brand (I love marketing speak) get us promoted and establish us as a Prem team, what's not to like about that? The fact that they are binding the club tight to their family business and the King Power name suggests that they are serious in all respects and indicates at least a medium term strategy, it would be hard to see how they could make money in the short term.
