danlcfc4ever Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Can someone explain how "Asia Football Investments" and "King Power" are connected? Reading the separate Walkers Stadium website http://www.thewalkersstadium.co.uk/index.html it is apparent that King Power itself and not a subsidiary of King Power in the name of K Power Sports or some variation is the true owner of the club although for some reason the club persists in the myth that Top is the ultimate owner. Surely, the shareholders of the top level of King Power are the true ultimate owners. "The Thai duty-free company, owned by Leicester City Chairman, Vichai Raksriaksorn and Vice-Chairman, Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, have added the stadium naming rights, alongside ownership of the Club, via Asia Football Investments (AFI) and now enter the second year of a three-year agreement as Club shirt sponsors." I'm looking forward to the new season but remain niggled at the lack of transparency and inconsistency in the "facts" being put into the public domain. Not without asking the Raksriakson's! And they probably wouldn't tell you! Asian Football Investments - sounds dodgy to me. & The fact we got Sven, who was hired and fired by Man City's old owner (who is a contact of Joe Sim.) In my opinion we are definately mixed up in all that stuff talked about on the programme. I just hope we're successful in promotion and they sell us on for a worthy profit to someone who won't shaft us, that way everyones a winner. The shit will hit the fan if we go another 3,4, or 5 seasons with no promotion. They could soon make their investment back by stripping the club of its assets.
Bettsj2 Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 The reality is nobody has ever really known completely what goes on in regards to the ownership or running of the club you support. Remember the gang of 4 situation? Completely murky water and I seem to remember money disapearing under Shipman and George. The program mentioned us in passing and it would hardly be shock horror for wealthy Thai businesmen to know each other and even ask advice on various matters. The Thai's seem to be upfront and happy to answer any questions as we've seen from Q&A'a and the interviews with Stringer. They're ploughing money into the stadium, training ground and playing staff whilst having attracted the highest profile manager we've ever had. It seems we might be looking for something to worry about as we havent ever had it this good? It may well be that we've just got lucky and these guys are all they appear to be. Their fortune may not be the highest reported, but the income and wealth reported is always related to the King Power brand. I'm quite sure that they would have other business ventures and investments bringing in income further affield than football.

Guest MattP Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Remember the gang of 4 situation? Completely murky water and I seem to remember money disapearing under Shipman and George. In hindsight the gang of 4 might not of been that bad considering what Elsom did. I was one of the few who liked Martin George, he refused to put the club into debt in order to gamble on success and knew that success didnt come by throwing money at things but by employing wonderful managers, he made 3 choices - Brian Little, Mark McGhee and Martin O'Neill, I dont think anybody can criticise that. If they are here for a while thats when Top & Co will realise throwing money at a club is the easy part of trying to be a sucessful owner, the hard part is when you trying to appoint an extremely good manager to spend it in the right way for you, if you employ a top class manager they will get you into the premiership whether they have a lot of money or not.(Lambert, Pulis, MON)
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2397647,00.html In response to Monday evening's Channel 4 documentary, Dispatches, Leicester City Football Club would like to issue the following statement.Leicester City Football Club and the club's owners, Vichai and Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, can unequivocally clarify that Joe Sim was not linked to the purchase of Leicester City by Asia Football Investments, nor has he had any involvement with, or authority to comment on any subsequent Leicester City business. Vichai and Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn have met Joe Sim, through his role as Chief Advisor to the Thai FA, but reiterate that in no way has Mr Sim had any involvement with Leicester City Football Club. Leicester City Football Club and its owners are committed to absolute transparency in every aspect of its operations and activities. The Club is now looking forward to the pre-season tour of Austria, beginning tonight against Bursaspor, following an unbeaten tour of Sweden, ahead of next season's npower Championship campaign.

LestaFox92 Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Good move by the club removes any doubt ourselves or anyone else had about it.
danlcfc4ever Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 I was wondering if we would release a statement..... and yes it's a great relief to read it. I just hope its true.
MikeyT Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Huh what documentary? What did i miss? Have i been asleep?
Guest MattP Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Surely this should have been released by Milan Mandaric and not by LCFC?
Fox92 Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Good statement by the owners just to reassure everyone. Huh what documentary? What did i miss? Have i been asleep? It was that 'how to buy a football clubs'. I didn't watch it either.
unreachable Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 I'm thoroughly disappointed by the inept Official Statement. What a poor public relations exercise! The club say they are "committed to absolute transparency" which should more correctly read "opacity". Inconsistent public statements continue to be made about who the club's owners are and as a season ticket holder I feel entitled to know who the club's true owners are. So come on LCFC tell us who the true owners are and who are part of the consortium. Is Top the owner? Are Top and Vichai the owners? Is K Power Sports registered in the Virgin Islands the true owner? Is King Power the owner? What is the relationship between King Power and "Asia Football Investments"? I can't find the information from the club's offical website which is in breach of the Football League's regulations. So let's see this commitment to "absolute transparency".

Do you insist on knowing the ownership structure of every organisation that you purchase something from?? Your grocery shopping must take ages!!! Just enjoy the fact that we have some owners who have reacted quickly to distance themselves from tarnished individuals and are looking firmly at the business in hand of getting your club to the premiership?
CKB Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 Do you think if we get to the premier league and someone makes them a huge offer they will turn it down because "they want to see us established in the prem?" Of course they wont. Top isnt a Leicester fan, I dont know where all that nonsense was brought up from and the only ones who really believe it are the same ones who stood there singing "Milan is a Leicester fan" from the bottom of thier hearts. Sven is off at the end of the year, I'm absolutely convinced of that now, there appears to be no effort to extend the deal from either side and I have asked Stringer a few times to mention it and no response is ever even given to the question. Robson is a slimeball but so are most people in football. We can't really moan with what we have in charge. I truely think they would, if we are in the Premier and everything is going ok why sell? They have ambition and i believe want great things for us, so they ain't going to sell unless things get bad.. I never said Top was a Leicester fan but if they want the best for us then that's allgood for me If Sven was off would Top/co gave the greenlight for all these signings? hell no! Sven would have left by now and a new man would have been inplace.. They ain't going to commit to someone if like you said "he's off" that would be absolutely stupid to back Sven if they knew he was off anyhow! Yes there are many slimeballs in Football but Robson truely came across as simply being all about the money.. I perfectly happy with Sven in charge, he isn't a slimeball he may have been lead astray in certain things (Villa/Shiek talks) but that was simply naivety on his part i think and as for the Notts thing he was truely fooked and did Sven cry for his money back? no he simply let it go as he realised just what happened and how he and Notts County were taken for mugs..
CKB Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 This statement will do for me, it's good they acted quickly --------------------------------- Unreachable, as far i was know AFI had a share but King Power/Top/Vic then brought it out so King Power/Top/Vic are 100% full owners.. I'm pretty sure that's what i read so King Power own us fully, simple as...

I appreciate not many people on this site seem to be interested in the club's ownership but I'll keep plugging away!

It's all absolute bullshit, there is no commitment whatsoever to any sort of transparency, we all know the reasons why but we just have to close our eyes put our fingers in our ears and hope. Its tragic.
Guest Bilo Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 AFI bought out Cronus Sports Management's share, not King Power/Vichai/Top. All we know is that King Power and its owners are part of AFI, not who else is backing it up. It's not as clear cut as you'd think. Good to know who we aren't involved with the bunch of shysters exposed on Dispatches at least, but the ownership is still clouded in mystery.
MrSpaM Posted 20 July 2011 Posted 20 July 2011 The documentary did only say that our owners had spoken to Joe Sim at some point, so this will do for me Now lets look forward to the season

The Leicester Mercury and Radio Leicester won't investigate the position but simply repeat public statements and the Foxes Trust are too frightened in case its tenuous liaison with the club is curtailed.
