Guest MattP Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 I thought he named the other club as Sheff U. He named loads of clubs through it, Sheff Utd was the one he was selling here.....I'm sure they have access to buying 20 or 30 if they need to....
Jagdinho Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Did anyone else get a bit scared when he mention the Leicester owner in the little spider web thingy though?
Guest MattP Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Did anyone else get a bit scared when he mention the Leicester owner in the little spider web thingy though? Not really, like I have said, its quite clear there is some sort of agenda from Thailand to buy a lot of clubs here and delegate them to a lot of difference Thai/Thai linked businessmen. It's football (in England) now unfortunately. If people want to believe Top & Co sat there one day and decided they were going to be really nice to someone and randomly pick an English football club to takeover, spend all there money and bring joy and happiness to the people then they can do. The rest of us can live in the real world. This is about one thing, profit arising from the expansion of the King Power brand.

Yeah, lets just hope getting Leicester City stable in the Premier League with 55,000 every home game after the stadium expansion is part of it, along with some Europion experience.. Or am i getting to excited?

Guest MattP Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 This is about one thing, overwhelming doom-mongering arising from wild speculation. Not really. I didnt need that program to tell me whats going on in English football, its clear enough we have all become casino chips on a Bangkok table. Just makes me annoyed watching it when we actually lap it up whilst other countries are putting restrictions in to stop it.

After only a few years Man City are among the favourites for the Prem League. For all you know we could be there in 4 or 5 years. Me? I'm just gonna see where we are at the end of this season.
davieG Posted 19 July 2011 Author Posted 19 July 2011 Why would they sell us in the premiership for a profit if others investors were to come in for even more profit? Out of interest how many of these businessmen have came in and made a profit? Everyone keeps saying this yet the industry is around 3billion pounds in debt? It really isnt something you would get involved in a business venture is it when you look at the situatin properly. The way some people are looking at this through tinted specs is bizarre, I absolutely dread to think what the final consequences of all this investment over the league will be. Boy the Germans have got it right with the finance licensing for every club and home ownership, no wonder they can stand up and pay 12 euros a game. Just because a club is in debt doesn't mean someone isn't creaming off a handsome profit under the table or in wages/expenses/property etc and maintaining/building up the debt. There's plenty of businesses that go bust with the owners walking away with a bank full of cash. It's also quite handy if you're laundering money. Not that I'm suggesting this is happening or will happen to us but with so many unknowns about the source of the investment we can never be sure.

If Man City win it they may as well put a * next to it like they will do with the baseball players who have roided up to hit homeruns, Wenger has described it perfect when he calls it financial doping. It's actually cheating thats just become acceptable here, I can't think of any other sport (maybe F1) where legally teams are allowed such a huge advantage over others on the same level. If you want excitement look at the Bundesliga where clubs now have to run at a profit and present there accounts to the league, Dortmund won it last year with half the youth team and spending 6million net. Since they brought the fair play rules in 06 they have had 4 different winners in 5 years. Absolutely true, no doubt MM managed to walk away from us with a decent sum despite officially turning over big losses every year he ran the club.
danlcfc4ever Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Just goes to show the shameful age we live in when a game played by school boys with jumpers for goalposts ....... and a team like us, who used to play in a humble little ground called Filbert Street in the backstreets of Leicester can be dragged through the shit by greedy twats like Bryan Robson and his consortiums of billionaires who will never know real football passion is.

Trouble is the PL runs football in this country and turkeys don't vote for Christmas, the FA is totally toothless against the financial strength of the PL the only way it will change is if FIFA/UEFA agree some global rules. Re MM - exactly and would have done even if we'd gone into liquidation, there's no doubt his back up option was the potential goldmine that is Belvoir Drive, training grounds got a mention in the programme as legitimate candy for owners.
davieG Posted 19 July 2011 Author Posted 19 July 2011 Just goes to show the shameful age we live in when a game played by school boys with jumpers for goalposts ....... and a team like us, who used to play in a humble little ground called Filbert Street in the backstreets of Leicester can be dragged through the shit by greedy twats like Bryan Robson and his consortiums of billionaires who will never know real football passion is. Well I'm sure Robson was full of real football passion in the past but power/money corrupts even the most honest of people. Even as fans we're happy to go along with potential dodgy dealings if it brings the club some success rather than walking away but then we're no different from drug addicts when it comes to football, do anything for a fix.
MrSpaM Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 I'd like to think our consortium talked to this dodgy guy in the first place, and since decided it was a bad idea so are now doing things properly. But the whole thing about Mandaric going to sheff wednesday, and the fact it took so long for our club to name the new owners after the takeover, it just screams that our club is just another pawn in this mess along with 70% of the other clubs in the division. Really hope Milan hasnt just completely pulled our pants down here, i still have trust in our owners though.
danlcfc4ever Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Here's one for you ---- Thaksin Shinawatra > According to the programme, a contact of JOE SIM. Thanksin Shinawatra was 'owner' of Man City when they hired, and fired :sge: Now we've got him. Abit too much stuff linking us with this douchebag for my liking.
Guest MattP Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 My favourite bit was when he described the fans as a "headache". The way to solve that was to hire a PR company, tell them we are going to spend loads, put a big screen up, do the club shop ticket office etc.....get them onside. Good job we are too smart to fall for that. The more I see of this I think we HAVE to go up this year, this looks a business gamble for this season, you can talk about naming the stadium etc but that hasnt cost them a penny and for what they have spent so far they have more than got the moneys worth in advertising. The fact Svens deal runs out in the summer ties in with this.
Len Finsbury Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 It wouldn't surprise me if we weren't more involved with these guys, it'd be just our luck. Even the FA chief said that although the 'owners' are ratified, they know nothing of the "owners' owners" or even the "owners' owners' owners". For all we know, King Power might be the legitimate "front of house" and the people actually investing in the club are completely different. I've read somewhere that young Top has always been a Leicester fan. Now I've no idea if this is true, but assuming it is, who would be a more perfect set of chosen 'owners' than these guys. His 'love' for the club, which could be genuine, could be a smokescreen for the goings on behind the scenes. I hope not, but there a few too many tenuous links: Thais, selling of training ground, Milan Mandaric.
danlcfc4ever Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Lets not forget when the Thais originally bought us it was under the name 'Asian Football Investments.' Lets be honest, that could mean any one of the names mentioned in the programme could have something to do with us.
jamesmilner Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Apart from 'potentially' owning more than one club, what's the problem here? Buying something low and then selling it high is just business. Personally I'd be surprised if anyone would pay £150million for us if we got promotion but even if they did it would be in their interest to keep us in the prem. They'd still have to invest in the club. i think the problem is that the way the program and investors were in it for profit . they buy to sell to ANYONE . are we in limbo ? are we just a pawn ready for sale as and when ? worrying time for football if the likes of bryan robson doesnt care about fans/players as its just business . where will we end up ? thats the question . and the bum lickers will say that the thais are not here for that ,they are here for football ,yeah right . if its possible ,watch on a player sometime if you ve not seen it , then you will worry if only a bit . we will see !
Churchill Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Yes most owners are here to make a profit thats the whole point. But the fact that they are trying to own more than one club and favour one of the clubs more than team B as they said is the worrying sign.
Stevosevic Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 If they are here to make profit and they manage to do this, it would have meant we were successful on the pitch. The real worry is who they would then sell us on to.
markbsac Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Yeah, lets just hope getting Leicester City stable in the Premier League with 55,000 every home game after the stadium expansion is part of it, along with some Europion experience.. Jagdinho Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 nice one but the stadium can only be increased by another 10,000 seats ..so be 42,000 max I think 42,000 is the first expansion with it possible to go to 55,000 after? I'm willing to accept I'm wrong, just what I've heard, read or been told.
