My link

grassmoor primary school in chesterfield is 1 of 6 finalists for the ronseal playground makeover competition. they currently lie in 2nd place and need a shade shy of 1000 more votes to take 1st place by friday night for the 30k playground makeover.

my children are born and bred city supporters who are local to this school. all 3 of my children go to it. 200+ children aged from 3-11 years old have just a bunch of old tyres to play on. they really are in need of this make over.

it would be really appreciated if people could take just 2mins of their time to click on the link, click the like button on the ronseal face book page then find grassmoors pic and click on like to register your vote.

my childrens school may not be in leicester but they are very much in the midlands.

Tbf, the school that is currently winning looks a lot worse off! Kids can always invent games up, even if it is only tyres

I fully understand where your coming from but what people dont realise is the school leading at the minute had a playground untill it got damaged by the snow last year. grassmoor has never had any playground equipment. they were due to rebuild the school then the government scrapped it. all money raised by parents and a local shop has had to be spent on fixing dangerous damaged roofs etc. as you can see in the picture the teachers have to park in the playground. children as young as 4yrs old are running around the vehicles and as you know children of that age get into everything, ie: exhusts, wheels.(not literally lol, but hands etc)

to me if i was ronseal i would have had a structured prize fund so that all schools recieved some help based on what position they finished as they all in their own right need this money.

for me even tho im born and bred in leicester i have seen 1st hand how much these children need it. to know that there has never been any thing to play on since it was built. the tyres were donated not long ago and a few lousy tyres that are only suitable for older children to play on safely. 6 or 7 tyres between 200 children isnt good. there needs to be age appro apperatus for the children.

inside the last 24hrs and the school in front was docked 10 votes for abuse towards other schools. if you can spare a couple of minutes to vote for my childrens school who are currently 2nd they would be very appreciative for it.

also they tried to get grassmoor kicked out by complaining that other schools voters were voting for grassmoor aswell after their own schools votes left them trailing behind

tell me about it. as soon as they get around 800 behind all of a sudden the other school has an influx of votes from somewhere. we can only but hope that in the last 6hrs the parents out on foot hitting the crowds for the hp7 film might have an effect. they will be setting up a laptop with a dongle so ppl can vote.

thank you to anyone that voted, so near yet so far.

im proud of what my children had put into it and so nice to see them spending time on something worthwhile than playing the 360 all the time.

As good as this is, I can't help feeling that with a bit of effort, a school could raise enough cash of its own back from local businesses and the like to pay for a playground.

unfortuneately alot of businesses up here are struggling to get by. and the big companys ie morrisons and tescos etc dont want to be perceived as leaving other schools out. ive suggest that the school try and get chesterfield fc to let them raffle off to businesses in chesterfield and surrounding areas a matchday shirt sponser like city do. ay £50 a pop for a £1000 of publicity may well raise enough to start the project off
