Jakemoore Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 With the recent departure of both Michael Lamey and Robbie Nielson we have been left with one first team RB.....Lee Peltier of course! So therefore is Sven confident of bringing in Vitor as both CB and RB cover? I would imagine so. However; it's been said in the forum that SSL can play at RB, but I think this morning contract cancillation announcement will be so to make way for Miguel Vitor's glorious return....food for thought!
Petchy Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Doubt it very much. I'm on holiday in Portugal and the Benfica / Anderlecht match was on and Miguel Vitor was their captain in a strong team featuring the likes of Saviola etc.

cc_star Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Deffo not Vitor, he's been named in their squad and has been playing a key part of their build-up. Yes we do need a deputy RB, in a way its a shame we couldn't keep Morrison because of his flexibility to stand-in at CB or RB for a few games. Can't imagine an obviously good player would be happy on the bench & neither would Peltier, wonder if we have a suitably able academy member?
MrSpaM Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Vitor had to be substituted last night in one of Benficas friendlies due to injury, not sure how serious it was
marbelladave Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Interesting....we need a RB then? Actually what we need is a left center back! Mills, Bamba and SSL are all right footed and prefer to play on the right. SSL can play right back and Abe and Oakley can both 'fill in' in that position... On the left side we have Konchesky, thats it.... Berner is for emergencies only and I very much doubt Tunchev will ever play again, those posting that our defense is 'sorted' are wrong. We need a strong left center back and cover for Konchesky, Ball might manage the latter role but I remain concerned that we still do not have a 'balanced' central pairing.

Lambert09 Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Obviously Schlupp is the man for the job aha .....or did he play on the left? I forget but either way the boys a god damn striker !!
marbelladave Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 im pretty sure that sol is left footed but i could be wrong! Maybe, but he sure as hell prefers to play on the right..... He had to play on the left in the latter stages of last season and his performances there were not good, the primary reason a number of posters on heare would like to see the back of him. Personally i think he is pretty decent, when played on the right... I have to admit that I am very concerned about the center of our defense, getting in a goalscorer is fine but it is our defensive record that really bothers me. It looks like we are going to use our fullbacks to provide the width going forward and since we have not signed a midfield 'anchor man' our central defenders are going to be left pretty exposed, I think Mills, Bamba and SSL could be in for a very tough season.....
MikeyT Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 I know he's gone now and the other thread has been closed on him, but just seen this. Notts County boss Martin Allen is keen to strike a deal for defender Robbie Nielson at the League One club.
