MC Prussian Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Vasalunds IF were really up for it and were on par with our first-half squad. They had more dangerous scenes in our box. Waghorn missed twice (I think), but the Swedish side should've gone ahead by one in the first 45. We were too weak going forward, Waghorn on his own up front didn't work. Peltier is still young and prone to the odd error here and there and has troubles defending properly/heading back to his natural position when he loses the ball in the opposing half. Reminds me of van Aanholt. We really need a more experienced RB to guarantee competition. The 2nd half was much better, in particular our back four impressed me hugely. Mind you, Yuki Abe was positioned as RWB, but did a good job. I thought Konchesky was outstanding once more. It's just the way he perceives the game, the way he can switch between defending and attacking. Very good asset. Tunchev played brilliantly, very composed and had everything under control - given his previous injuries, a minor miracle. Vasalunds had absolutely no chance for about 35 minutes and you've got to feel for Smith for allowing the only goal from Vasalund's only real attack in the 2nd half. One shot, one goal. Howard - four goals. Take a bow. He scored the fourth with his chest, whilst falling to the ground. Sheer class. The stadium speaker had everyone in stitches when he mistook Howard for Oakley for his two first goals. "Leicester City scorer - Steve Oakley!!!". Quite surprised that the Raksiaksorns showed up, got to the ground in a luxury hotel shuttle bus just before the game. Raksiaksorn Senior clearly enjoyed walking around the football ground area without being bothered at all - no one knew him or his son. Also spotted what I believe is that odd Swedish Bristol City fan off OTIB. If he ever starts coming up with creative insults towards us again - I know have his picture, hehehehe.
