King did more in those 30 minutes in terms of a battling midfield display than he did in the last 5-10 games of last season. He ran out of gas massively last season and he is the sort of player that may need to be rotated on occasions I just hope Sven has that in mind and not that he's seen as second fiddle to the likes of Abe, Wellens and co. King offers us goals which is a rare commodity from central midfield, if he can develop the other elements of his game then he'll be a genuine superstar and under Sven he'll continue to improve.

He won every 50/50 he went in for on Saturday, something he's struggled to do in the past and he drove us forward. Sousa had him on the bench a few times at the start of last season and he proved a point by making an impact when he came on. He'll do it again, he'll be starting matches again very soon.

Agree with this. He seemed pretty up for it, getting stuck into tackles whereas previously he's seemed happy to usher players into different areas of the pitch. Quite often he shadows players out of his territory, passing them onto others and always ensuring that it isn't on his watch, as it were, that the player he's marking does anything too dangerous.

I really rate King though and think eventually he force his way in, probably at the expense of Abe, and we'll see Fernandes (DMC), Wellens (CM) and King (AMC). His finishing and ability to arrive in goalscoring positions is too good to see him out of the team or as an impact sub. Johnson coming back to fitness may be more suited to that initially. Sven clearly rates him from what he's said in the past, I just think he'll be trying to motivate King to contribute more all round by leaving him out of the side now that we have enough strength to do so. Last season we couldn't afford to leave him out, hence why he was played even though he might have needed a rest.

I still maintain that Bergkamp was the best player I have EVER seen in the flesh, so to speak... an absolute genius mate.. the goals he scored against us in that fantastic 3-3 draw were sublime...I was there at the game and felt at the time that he had a God given talent

Same goes for me as well. I think he is the best player to ever play in the Premier League. Still one of my favourite players of all time, and always will be.

I'll always remember him scoring a sensational goal at Newcastle where he flicked it around the defender (in fact, I think it was Dabizas lol)

He'll play a major role as will 4-5 others in midfield. We'll rotate and come January with any luck we'll be in a good position and the players will have the stamina still not to fade like they did last year.

Kingy seemed to have a bit of skill when he came on. When he went on the run where he glided past a couple of players with a few step-overs he looked a completely revitalised player from the last few games of last season where he looked tired. Hoping he can continue his early season form from last year but maintain it all year.

I would not read to much into the fact sven has left Kingy on the bench, your bound to see a few of the city favourties or highly regarded players left on the bench or even out of the 16 altogether some matches, it's a big squad, and it is the beauty of having one which is blessed with qulaity players. I do believe Sven will be using a different starting 11 to that, that plays at home. If you notice the bigger premier league/champs league sides do it, its the best way to keep the squad fresh and the points rolling in, i will take scrappy away 1-0 wins all season and be happy to let us play our football at home :D

I think with some work, he could be trained as a support striker playing behind, moving constantly between the oppo's defence and midfield could cause problems for them. He'd need a bit more pace and stamina of course, but perhaps the rotation could help with that.

No! Burnham is quite right, apart from his finishing he has none of the attributes of a good attacking midfielder.

Be good if the rotation policy was timed so that our best players are available for the toughest games, common sense really. Right now we do not know what our best team is, but we need to begin by getting the best from our best players.

For the time being the back 5 that started saturday looked like 1st choice to me, Peltiers injury will require Pantsil or Abe to deputise, should be ok, I think.

In midfield I would like to see King alongside Fernandez in the (semi) holding positions, Fernandez to play the ball around and King to make his trademark late runs. This would give us the solidity to have a playmaker just ahead of them with a really free role, Gallagher or Danns for me.

Up front we remain short of 1-2 players, this is now really brought home with the loss of Vassell for (probably) 3 games. No idea who is going to play the wide roles, big chance for Schlupp maybe?

be honest , not one of us thought he would be sub . rotation is bull.... and imo he should have started in front of abe . i love the comment about king having to develop his game other than scoring !!! lmfao ! hes an international who will leave (like others have ) if not playing regular first team football . that is not imo , it wil be a fact !

Get a grip. It was barely 'surprising' that he didn't start let alone "not one of us thought he would be sub". Who doesn't think he'll be featuring regularly?

We were playing away from home, last year our record was appalling overall. So he has gone for a solid start with three physicall, defensive-minded midfielders to keep a clean sheet away from home, how many times did we manage a clean-sheeted victory away last year? King will most likely be a player more often used at home games where teams will sit back and we can have the license to dominate all game.

Might just be me but i thought he looked abit bigger aswell maybe he's bin working out?

They said on RL that he's been in the gym "non-stop" this summer so he may be trying to address his lack of strength on the ball last season.

Leicester City squad rotation inevitable - Andy King

Leicester City midfielder Andy King says all the players must get used to squad rotation this season.

Boss Sven-Goran Eriksson signed a host of players this summer, with the club's Thai owners desperate to win promotion to the Premier League this season.

King told BBC Radio Leicester: "Everyone wants to play every game and not everyone will be able to do that.

"It's tough but we have a good squad with so many good players that people will be sacrificed [at times]."

King played in 45 of Leicester's 46 league games last season, scoring 15 goals. And only one of his appearances came as a substitute.

We're still getting used to each other, we've got a lot of new players and that does take time to gel

Andy King

He has already been a substitute in three of Leicester's six Championship fixtures this term, but did score after coming off the bench in Saturday's draw away against Barnsley.

"Throughout the season you will need everyone," King added.

"But there are so many players here now and he [Eriksson] is changing the team so it's tough.

"But you just have to wait for your chance and try to take it when you are given it."

And the Wales international is not too concerned by that slow start to the season, which has seen them win just two of their opening six league matches.

"We're still getting used to each other, we've got a lot of new players and that does take time to gel," he said.

I absolutely love this man.
