Fox4388 Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Great start to the season on Saturday but I hope Sven isn't planning on keeping King on the bench for most of the season. Anyone know if he has an injury or something?
davieG Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Great start to the season on Saturday but I hope Sven isn't planning on keeping King on the bench for most of the season. Anyone know if he has an injury or something? He came on as a sub
danny_foxes Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Did well when come on though, dropping him is what he needs.
cc_star Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Seemed to fancy a bit more steel in a tricky away game

Libertine Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Rotation's the name of the game. Can't see Abe starting more games than King, but King definitely deserves dropping at times as much as anyone else.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Great start to the season on Saturday but I hope Sven isn't planning on keeping King on the bench for most of the season. Anyone know if he has an injury or something? I would be surprised, given the signings and the formation, if Sven ISNT gonna keep King on the bench Let Sven get on with it mate.... we needed more midfield steel and we've got it...King will still play a part this season, believe me... but he IS lightweight when we need to control the middle of the park. He will play sometimes, and come on sometimes and score goals...but lets see Sven's plan unfold........
samjohnson Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 As Sven said on RL, it's a long season, and you dont want to play everyone in every game.
Ric Flair Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 King did more in those 30 minutes in terms of a battling midfield display than he did in the last 5-10 games of last season. He ran out of gas massively last season and he is the sort of player that may need to be rotated on occasions I just hope Sven has that in mind and not that he's seen as second fiddle to the likes of Abe, Wellens and co. King offers us goals which is a rare commodity from central midfield, if he can develop the other elements of his game then he'll be a genuine superstar and under Sven he'll continue to improve. He won every 50/50 he went in for on Saturday, something he's struggled to do in the past and he drove us forward. Sousa had him on the bench a few times at the start of last season and he proved a point by making an impact when he came on. He'll do it again, he'll be starting matches again very soon.
Joe. Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 No harm in dropping him to the bench every now and again, it's already been proven that he's not untouchable. He came on and did very well - it just goes to show the kind of quality that we have in midfield this season that we can choose to bring on our two top goal-scorers (that are still here this season at least) from last season.
Lcfc_k133 Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Listening to radio leicester it was reported that king is spending a lot of time on the wieghts, rotation will be key but I believe that both Sven and Kingy know his strengths and weaknesses and are working to improve them and his overall game. I was more impressed by the use of other systems (4-4-2) when the game calls for a more balanced unit tbh I think Sven realised that our collective midfield and full backs were going far too far forward at times last season leaving our centrebacks issolated - leading to sloppy goals conceeded. I think Sven is starting to understand the finer tactics and working of the champ and choosing his team and tactics as a result. IN SVEN WE TRUST UTC
maynefox Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 For me, When playing away from home, Sven is being more cautious/defensive by leaving King out, at home Im sure he will start. King was great when he came on, turned and ran at the goal, increasing the chance of a second goal. Thats what we should use him as away from home IMO.
Stevosevic Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 King will play a mjor role in our season, no need to worry. Sven dropped him last season as well, it's healthy.
lcfcsmith Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 When Johnson gets to match fitness he'll most likely be the first in the midfield, Gelson's already shown to be quality and Wellens' has been consistently good so King will have to develop on other aspects besides goalscoring to become a regular in our midfield soon.
Len Finsbury Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Stick him up front. He may be our 20+ goal a season striker!
Fox92 Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Stick him up front. He may be our 20+ goal a season striker! Good idea, but he lacks pace and isn't strong enough so I don't think it would work.
Corky Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 No problem with him on the bench. When he came on he looked up for it and battled more in the midfield, and went on a lovely run that just lacked the finish. At least he's on the bench this season because of more options, rather than the ludicrous "impact sub" role he was given at the start of last season.
Austin Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Good idea, but he lacks pace and isn't strong enough so I don't think it would work. He could pile on a few pounds, maybe borrow some 'roids from Waggy? Bergkamp never had any pace .. I reckon we could be on to a winner here
Haydos Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 He could pile on a few pounds, maybe borrow some 'roids from Waggy? Bergkamp never had any pace .. I reckon we could be on to a winner here Bergkamp had the creative genius and technique of Zidane though.
Libertine Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 I think he could eventually do a good job as a supporting striker actually. Clever player.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Bergkamp had the creative genius and technique of Zidane though. I still maintain that Bergkamp was the best player I have EVER seen in the flesh, so to speak... an absolute genius mate.. the goals he scored against us in that fantastic 3-3 draw were sublime...I was there at the game and felt at the time that he had a God given talent
Bryn Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 King scores all his goals making intelligent runs from deep, and otherwise catches the eye with constructive but simple football in the middle of the park. He doesn't have any of the attributes required to play up front, aside from finishing.
ealingfox Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 I think with some work, he could be trained as a support striker playing behind, moving constantly between the oppo's defence and midfield could cause problems for them. He'd need a bit more pace and stamina of course, but perhaps the rotation could help with that.
