I understand that when thier is nothing on, you pass it around and build again but their is NEVER anything on! I have seen more movement in a morgue! Wellens especially is the worst for this. He consistently slows attacks down and looks to either Bamba, (who is our most direct player) or a fullback, who this year aren't attacking!! We have nobody that gets the ball and just runs at people. Yes you may get tackled but at least you bleeding tried. We are crying out for a Nicky Maynard who was quality last night and we are desperate for a winger!! I don't know if it is the personel or the system but it is not working, and it didn't work last year!! Dyer only reacts when he recieves the ball, he makes no runs and he is a nothing player! Whats the point in being 'fastest player in the league' according to the phone in, if you don't bladdy run anywhere?!?! King is a luxury player who you only notice is on the pitch when he scores. Fernandes dives in too much and needs to calm down. Quality with the ball but sometimes passes too early. RUN WITH IT!! 3 games gone and no need to panic but the way we play, nothing massive is going to change....
Bausor Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Good post and everything spot on. couldnt agree more sven had no plan and has just brought players who he thinks are good, should of had a system in mind like 442 and brought the players need hes ha enough money But Lets keep the faith it could be that we will win more on are travels this year as the crowd are less likely to be on there back and less presure than playing at home

I couldn't care less that we lost, it happens occasionally... dodgy ref or a bit of bad luck, etc but the last two performances were no coincidence, we were simply sh*t. It was worse than watching a Craig Levein team with Mark De Vries the lone striker or a Gary Megson team with Carl Cort on the wing. It was awful. Apart from Nugent's goal, I can't remember their goalkeeper having to make a save! We didn't even create ANY chances. This is ridiculous. We're too defensively minded, we need to take a leaf out of Blackpool's book last season and ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!

kingfox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 We have done this for ages to be fair, many teams do the same. 1st half last night was poor, a lot of sideways, backwards and long balls. Fernandes despite being good with his passing yet again, he kept playing it sideways and St Ledger and Bamba kept playing it back and hoofing it. Despite all this the 2nd half was much much better, King, Dyer and even Richie were advancing forward and St Ledger cut his long balls out and was playing the bal out of defence and picking midfielders out with ease, same as Bamba. 1st half was poor, but 2nd half we were much better, we created chances last night but we just need some 20 goals strikers to finish them.

I think a new striker will help massively, i know we arent creating many chances but i think is is due to the face that alot of the time there isnt a blue shirt within 30 yards of nugent when he receives the ball so he has no option but to try and keep hold of the ball and wait for other players to join the attack, by this point the tempo and momentum is lost and the oposition have 6-7 men behind the ball. with someone up there with him we can attack quicker and more directly. I know what u are sayin and you are right to some extent but I just think its our shape that stops us from building attacks sometimes. Particularly against reading it looked like square pegs in round holes playing players out of possition doesnt help.
