Stay Positive Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Well, as we all know, Peely brought some of the greatest music of all time to our attention, but he wasn't always right. For a start, he always refused to play the superb band The Long Ryders and refused Green On Red any form of airtime. Some might also point to the fact that it was Peel who made Musical Youth's "Pass The Dutchie" and Laurie Anderson's "O Superman" colossal hits (though I have a perverse admiration for those two) so I wondered if anyone had any more gems overlooked by the great man?
purpleronnie Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 But peel had a great sense of humour and just because some records aren't considered 'cool' why is it considered 'wrong'?
Stay Positive Posted 28 August 2011 Author Posted 28 August 2011 Well OK, maybe I should have put "in your opinion" at the end of that thread title. Don't get me wrong here. I loved Peel, but if I made a thread of what he got RIGHT, it could go on forever.
Stay Positive Posted 7 September 2011 Author Posted 7 September 2011 I'd forgotten about Green On Red! Maybe YOU can give them some airtime then!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 September 2011 Posted 7 September 2011 Maybe YOU can give them some airtime then! When I get back off holiday I'll do it. Found somewhere to get it from too. Bless you eMusic!
The People's Hero Posted 13 September 2011 Posted 13 September 2011 Peel championed Hefner for a long time, so he's alright by me.
