Guest MattP Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Can certainly see why, loved my time last year In Melbourne and Sydney, thought Sydney was the more amazing city, but Melbourne definitely more down to earth and the place you would rather live in. Would have San Fran and LA up there as well, just the cost too much.....cannot believe anyone can mention London, wouldnt even be in my top 25 now, 90% of it is an absolute shithole.
purpleronnie Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Haha - although not wishing to live there i can't say I've found a City I've liked better than London. I just didn't realise that was the reason! Can't judge Melbourne, having never been, but relatives have loved it there. Me I'd consider great times spent in Sorrento, Italy, the Swiss cities of Lucern or Lausanne and even Monaco for its wonderful surroundings on the Cote D'Azur. But in the end I'd choose Oxford. I never tire of the place. There's always so much to do and it's close enough to London, the South coast, the Cotswolds and my family (plus the football) in and around Leicester. A Victorian house off the Banbury Road would be perfect. http://www.dailyinfo.co.uk/guide/OxfordScenes.htm I lived in london for a while loved it, seems most who dont live there assume its terrible I'm sure the riots didn't help, but like most cities including no doubt Melbourne there are nice areas and not so nice areas.
Guest MattP Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Problem is in Sydney even the rough areas like Parramatta etc would actually look nice in London nowadays
Guest MattP Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 London has the highest emigration rate of any major city now.....got to be a reason for that.
BlueSi13 Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 London has the highest emigration rate of any major city now.....got to be a reason for that. It's the most expensive city in Western Europe. That might have something to do with it.
STEVIE B Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Cape Town was pretty cool ! Was there 15 years ago over Xmas/New year watching England play cricket. So cheap, great beaches, and a real party atmosphere.
Rincewind Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Even though I would not want to live in London, I can see the advantages. Well some of them. You are close to travel all over the country and world. A vast choice of entertainment in theatres attractions, restaurants, bars to suit every need. and only a short tube journey to a different district. Having said that it is expensive to live there so you need a good long lasting job which may involve socialising with Jeromy and Caroline from Oohenry Street.
