DJMadness29 Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 God I hate car insurance. A few months ago (Marchish) the missus was driving my car in a multistory and was driven into. She was stationary waiting to go out of a junction and the other car hit her as she drove off. Other person claims the missus reversed into her (obviously what you do when turning at a junction). Got the letter after about 3 weeks of it happening with the claim form (have to do the pictures etc) and sent it off straight away. Phoned them the other day and they said they STILL hadnt had the claim form of the other company(meaning the woman who hit her hasnt sent it off). Now its renewal time and because ive got a possible claim pending I have lost all my no claims and have a claim against my name (even though wasnt in the car at the time) and my insurance has gone from 400 to 850. Its really annoying cause until this claim is put to bed ive lost my no claims. asked what'd happen if she didnt send it in they said it would stay open until she did. WHY??!! So annoying
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Try a different insurer, you might by pleasantly surprised. Sound to me like maybe the other person wasn't insured. Insurance companies really DO need to be more heavily regulated though. They seem to have free rein to take your money.
DJMadness29 Posted 2 September 2011 Author Posted 2 September 2011 No injuries. Drove into the back of my car at very low speed. Ive got a towbar (and without it i dont think i'd be writing this now) and it'd gone through the radiator so causing damage to the other car and absolutely no damage to mine. Have had a quick look online (meerkat site) to get a quote but when it asks any accidents/claims I have to put yes to both me and the missus (as its my claim but her accident) but none of them have a results pending bit. its all which insurer paid.
DB11 Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 850 is still a hell of a lot cheaper than mine (i'm 18) <_<
AoWW Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 850 is still a hell of a lot cheaper than mine (i'm 18) <_< Which is completely irrelevant.
Alexikokopops Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 My car insurance is in between those two prices
DB11 Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Which is completely irrelevant. Not completely irrelevant. Still car insurance.
AyewJoking Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Theres a lesson here about never letting your missus drive the car. Seriously though, I sympathise with you. Motorists get raped whether it be petrol, tax or insurance and its getting worse not better. Really hope you can find a cheaper alternative.
@mrtonycox Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 I know it's straying off the point a little but it's another highlight as to how we're raped by insurance companies. I had 3 points on my license from a speeding fine 4 years ago.. So now technically if I can be arsed to spend £20 and send my license off I can have a nice clean paper copy. But my mrs just reinsured her car and our premium has gone up based on the points as they take them into account for up to 5 years..!!!. Amazing really since you lose the points after 3, get them removed from license after 4... We moved and got cheaper deal..
