Maybury: Sylla Has A Bright Future

Recommended Posts

Leicester defender Alan Maybury is predicting a bright future at the Walkers Stadium for new signing Momo Sylla.

Sylla, from the Ivory Coast, joined the Foxes on a free transfer from Celtic during the close season.

Maybury said: "Momo is the sort of player who demands the ball and is always trying to make things happen.

"He's unpredictable and can take people on. I've seen him play on either wing or in the hole and I'm sure he'll be invaluable for us."

I wonder if he can cross a ball though...

I like the major word Maybury used to describe him, 'Unpredictable'! For the fans or the opposition.

Ew, that sounds painful.

I think Sylla will be a fans favourite. I love players with natural talent that also have irratic moments. I know it's frustrating when they make mistakes but when they are on fire they bring the crowd to their feet. He's been compared to Wanchope in the way you don't know what the hell he's going to do next. He'll win us games, which is what we need.

Hes a great signing IMO. Hes played in Europe and in the SPL and he brings a wealth of experience and he a versitile player, something which will prove to be useful coz of the transfer window.

Im a little worried that he didnt play that much last season and therefore hes lacking match experience but if he gets a good start and becomes a success with fans then he could have a great season. Im trying to think of some chants...

Just hope he's talent with a "team" outlook. It's no use looking fast and fancy on the halfway line then losing the ball and leaving all the "runners" out of position.

If he's got the intelligence to use his skills and power where it hurts and colleagues make allowances for things occasionally going wrong then he might be a vital cog.

Certainly we've missed having someone around like Joachim. Before you all scream, I know he was never the greatest player even when free of injury but he did have an impact, he did get the crowd buzzing and we truly need some of that.

I remember Steve Heighway at Liverpool. Fast as an enema and very positive around the box but, my life, his ball control was iffy. He left it behind, it stuck between his legs and he sometimes tripped over it. But when he actually had the ball there was an air of expectancy and with good reason.

Heighway was an individual who seemed able to function within a team. Let's hope Sylla proves the same rather than just a wizard of dribble who takes off of his own journey without giving his teammates any idea of a potential rendezvous.

The question of course is why didn't he play much last season? Does anyone know?

Playing at a lower level might make a difference but If Levein can get more out of a man than MON he is blessed indeed.

Mainly because MON plays wingbacks and Sylla isn't that comfortable there. He also had Didier Agathe as his first choice right wingback so Sylla only filled in when needed. He played against AC Milan and Barca this season and by all accounts had steady games I think?!

I'm sure if he'd been an ever present, we'd have no chance of signing him so it's a good job MON let him leave!
