Rincewind Posted 27 September 2011 Posted 27 September 2011 Mixing Church and State in Old Dixie Posted: 26 Sep 2011 07:41 PM PDT If you are charged … and found guilty … with certain lower level crimes in Bay Minette Alabama, you can totally get out of any legal proceedings by opting out of the legal system and instead taking the baby Jesus into your heart. Starting this week, under a new program called Operation ROC (Restore Our Community), local judges in Bay Minette, Alabama, will give those found guilty of misdemeanors the choice of serving out their time in jail, paying a fine or attending church each Sunday for a year. But It’s OK. You get to pick the church! So it’s not like jamming a particular religion down everyone’s throat! That’s OK, then, right? From Freethought blog
Webbo Posted 27 September 2011 Posted 27 September 2011 If I can omment; If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
Webbo Posted 27 September 2011 Posted 27 September 2011 But pray and you'll be OK Firstly they're not jamming religion down everyone's throat, just people who are convicted of crime, secondly you pay a fine or go to jail if you prefer. There are so many things in the world to get angry about, is this the best you can come up with? Really?
Rincewind Posted 27 September 2011 Author Posted 27 September 2011 No just found it funny. Perhaps the judges are hoping that after 12 month of visiting a church every day tthe offenders will see the light and start shouting 'Haleulah praise our lord Jesus' in town centres. May fail because normally it has to be taught to children from the time they utter the word 'Mamma' Lord Om sounds gopod.
panky and our gang Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 I would elect to visit the Charlotte Church in the nude .
