His best days were at Southampton and Derby but good luck to him. Always one of those solid pros that gets a 6 or 7 most games.

A few people have said he led us into league one as captain but by the time he arrived most of the damage was done that season anyway and he was also the captain who stayed & brought us back up, so fair play to him.

I won't be shedding any tears over this news. A lot of people keep saying about how good it was of him to hang around when we were relegated, my opinion is that a) Nobody else actually wanted him, and b) He was on such a cushty contract why would he want to leave.

Without wanting to sound too bitter, he's one of the most average captains I've ever seen down the city. As has been mentioned already, no other skipper has led us to the 3rd tier too. Maybe just a co-incidence.

Anyway, another sign the clubs moving forward by clearing more deadwood. :scarf:

I have this nagging feeling that we have a new Oakley in Abe, I hope I'm wrong but I see some of the same traits in him, and despite a cracking header a coupla weeks back, I've been as underwhelmed by him as I was when I saw Oakley play.

This is quality. I live in Exeter and was driving past the Cat and Fiddle training ground earlier just as he was being interviewed for BBC. Will be interesting to see how he gets on against Dickovs Oldham tomorrow.

All my Exeter City fan mates have been asking me if he's any good or not...they have not replaced Harley (played against us for Brighton the other week). Oakley is there on a rescue mission as they have no playmaker and lie second bottom in League one. IO for one hope he does well as Exeter is a friendly well supported club. That would have attracted him to be fair.

Would love to go but am busy before going over mates to watch Derby match on Sky! :scarf:
