Norwich have agreed to switch their opening day Championship fixture with Coventry to Carrow Road.

The Sky Blues are due to move in to their new Ricoh Arena soon, but the new ground will not be ready in time for the August 6 kick-off.

Coventry asked The Canaries if they would consider switching the tie to Carrow Road and the relegated Premiership side have now agreed, subject to Football League approval.

"On this occasion we were more than happy to come to Coventry's assistance," said Norwich chief executive Neil Doncaster.

"When construction of the Jarrold Stand was taking place, we relied on the co-operation of other clubs.

"Of course, it is also always nice to open the season with a home fixture."

Should the switch go ahead Nigel Worthington's side will start their bid to bounce back into the top flight with three home games on the bounce.

Although they will then go nearly a month without a home fixture in November and December.
