Is Tom Kennedy allowed to play for Peterborough on loan this weekend?

Peterborough have reserve left back Grant Basey out on loan and first choice right back Mark Little injured, ao Craig Alcock who can play in either full back position has been playing at right back. They have no specilaist left back if Kennedy is unavailable so would play a midfielder, most probably Tommy Rowe at left back. Currently their shaky defence is looking even shakier than usual, without Kennedy, who by all reports has played consistantly well, they should be alot leakier.

Wondering what the deal is with Kennedy, have we agreed a January permanent deal or is their a chance he may stay as cover? must admit always liked him and with a good 3 months first team action he's match fit.

He won't be able to play. It's very, very rare that loanees are allowed to play against their parent club, and given that we're in the same league I'd assume that we'll have included a clause that says that he can't play against us.

Someone said that this weekend that its only a rule in the Premier League, that in football league it actually has to be an extra clause in the contract, and usually if a permanent deal is in place with loan fees etc then the player can play....

... Hopefully not but not heard anything, and i'm sure when Kennedy went out on loan it was in view of a permanent deal.

Well it's not only a rule in the PL, and there does have to be a clause in the contract. It can still be a clause in the contract regardless of whether a future fee has been arranged.

It all depends on the contract, but I would be absolutely amazed if he can play. It would just be stupidity on our part if he can play, given that we're in the same league.

Another thing Pearson originally signed Kennedy didn't he? maybe he'd like to have a look at him in January before moving him on?

I'm not sure he's better than midtable Championship standard, but he's coming back to us on form and fit and full of confidence, ideal time to assess how good he is.

I would have thought Kennedy could have provided capable back up to Konchesky, without us needing to sign Ball.

I remember Ollofinjana scoring against Hull for Cardiff when him and Anthony Gardener both played against their own teams. But generally it doesn't happen.

Yeah, I remember, that was last season when Pearson was at Hull.

I can remember Emnes scoring against middlesborough for swansea lastseason, th recalled him immedietly. :crylaugh:

It is nothing but stupidity if you allow yourwn player to play against you, there are no real avantages.

Tom Kennedy might well have a future with us yet, NP's last act as manager was to sign him in the first place, after Koncheskey we don't have decent cover, Berner's legs are gone and Ball isn't much cop either

Unless they score own goals....

Kennedy is a more than good enough deputy at LB for Konchesky.

He isnt top quality but to be an instant replacement he is exactly the sort of player you would want really. Sven signing Ball was a joke really, almost did it because he felt sorry for him, showing what a shite manager he really is.
