z-layrex Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Any of you got any idea about how you go about getting this done? So something like these, but with my usual lens in. It must be doable somehow.
rico Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 i took my Ralph Lauren glasses to the opticians at Asda and they changed mine,i had an eye test there before though!
Rincewind Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 My eyes are really bad. A few yeats back there was only one kind of frames available because of the thickness of the lens but now I have a greater choice. Can have almost any frame. It's all a bit late now. Theres one thing wearing designer specs in your youth and another to wear them when middle age trying to attract middle age women who were oncew young and fit. (It would not do to try and attract the teen girls, tongues would wag) Anyway mine are middle of the range and I wear them for comfort now.

I used to surface and edge Rx lenses. To answer your question somewhat, It depends on your prescription, and if your frame can have Rx lenses (some frames cannot hold Rx lenses). But yes, it is often doable. Often, it's as simple as going to a store/boutique/optician, picking out your frame, and asking (of if it's your own frame, bringing your frame to an optical store and asking). That frame is big and thin, so if you have a high minus or high plus script, it might not be doable. Something similar would probably be a good match for a low minus script because the front curve of the lenses will be flat and the edges won't be too thick.

BoneDog Posted 8 December 2011 Posted 8 December 2011 The phrase 'Ray Bans' cracks me up! I here people talk about them but don't really know what they are. Just sounds funny. It reminds me of a mate in the early 90's who had some 'Reactor Lights' when they came out. A few of us were out and about one night and one lad clotheslined the high tech glasses lad over someones garden fence. His glasses flew off and as he hit the deck he was saying in his squeaky northern accent, "Ooh Wozzah me reactors......me Mam'll kill me if I canna find these fockers". I was ballin!
