valuation of tools

Not nice having your tools stolen and its not nice seeing a load of jokes about it. But this is Foxestalk. There are jokers and pisstakers of a variant level from the moron to the intellectoral (not saying who is which) so it is to be expected. When posting on here posters have to be wary of the responses. The trick is to compose your starting thread that out does the the clever buggers before they respond.

When I've found a way to do that I will keep it to myself.

I agree, the pencil thing sounds daft, but there was a reason behind it. The fact it was written on in pencil came about as a spur of the moment thing because a joiner on a job recently had the exact same drill and I wanted to distinguish mine with his. Have you ever tried starting and finishing work 30mins earlier/later just to load a van up?!

And yes, forgive me for hoping that people would be receptive and thoughtful when hoping for a positive response on here. Stupid me for hoping a fellow football fan would help another out. Is it THAT unlikely that somones tools could be sold/offered to someone who reads this forum? Not really. The wider the net is cast the better the chances of having them recovered.

I have absolutely no issue with you posting that thread on here. I'm sorry you lost your shit. You shouldn't have left it in your van but you probably feel a right mug about that and don't need us pointing it out. I can sympathise because, when we were broken into, we'd only locked the door by the Yale and had been too naive / complacent to bother with the mortise and bolt. We knew we'd not done ourselves any favours and were livid.

Having a thread for shit that's been knicked is a tidy idea. You're quite right, your tools might show up being flogged about.

But that doesn't stop this thread being fairly amusing, albeit a bit predictable. The guy's just poking a bit of fun and probably trying to make you smile at something bad that's happened to you. Suck it up and see the funny side (of this thread, not the theft.)

I have took it to heart and been arsey about it but it doesn't help when it was bought for me for Xmas by my now very ill dad, then all the subsequent piss taking after that. No its noones fault on here, but surely any piss taking will rub someone up the wrong way in this situation. Peace
