EDL plan return to Leicester - Saturday 4 February

I agree

Both sides are over reacting pretty much to the same degree , but neither seem capable of seeing their own mirror image .

There's very little chance of sharia law being adopted on a grand scale in the UK that is true and the EDL seem to be suffering from a delusional sense that they are saving us from a downward spiral into islamic fundamentalism

But , there is very little chance of the EDL or BNP having any real power in the UK either, but it doesn't stop the self styled lantern jawed defenders of mankind such as the anti nazi league getting their knickers in a twist every time a motley crew of idiots wave a cross of St. George and they seem to be suffering from a delusional sense that they are saving us from a downward spiral into nazism

A few muslims have extremist views and have to pay the penalty , and a few individuals in groups such as the EDL hold extreme views and also pay the penalty under the laws of the land .

Why there is a need for confrontation on the streets in either case is completely beyond me , because we have very good laws in place and the police can deal with it without any hinderance from the self righteous brigades on both sides .

No doubt both sides will continue to argue that the other is the greater threat and will try to produce historical evidence to back it up though . Usually embellished with such quotes

as, " all that is needed for evil to triumph .................blah blah blah !!!

I think the reason I am slightly more irritated by the anti nazi groups is the hypocritical way they fight nazi thought when it is held by groups such as EDL but never seem to be concerned by the very same nazi thought expressed by some relgious groups

Nice to have you back. :)

Shame the EDL and UAF can't just hire a big field for the day and smash the crap out of each other there, without harming trade, property and people in the middle of a city.

No one would care if it was in a field and thats how it should be but they like to go out of their way to ruin normal peoples weekends. It's a fvcking disgrace we have enough to deal with without these bunch of stupid dole thieving mongrels starting a public disturbance in our city that my taxes have to go towards paying the police to stop them killing each other it winds me right up! :@

If you're in the UAF, would you kindly PISS OFF.

And this is aimed at who?

Anyway. Regarding UAF and EDL. This is the simplistic view of adam1.

Politics is circular in notion. Liberal society at the base of the circle. Freedom of speech etc. On the right you have the right. On the left you have the left. The further they progress away from the bottom of the circle i.e. further right or left, they head towards the top of the circle. This is either a authoritarian state or totalitarian rule. Both types give rise to political oppression, lack of freedom of speech etc etc and of course restrictions upon minorities either by race or religion.

So in context if the UAF get their way we eventually end up with the same shit as what would happen if the EDL got their way.

Conclusion? Did someone mention a field....

I don't understand why we have to allow free speech in cases like this. If the point someone wants to convey has no positive merits and is just plain stupid, why do need need to give them their precious human rights and let them say it? Just tell em to shut up and fvck off would be the right thing to do. But commonsense never prevails in politics.

ooh, If we're getting rid of the right to free speech can we take it from you as well?

Human Rights are just that - rights, things people should be automatically entitled to. You remove the right to free speech and you're censoring peoples thoughts, that's not common-sense, that's oppression.

"As much I disagree with your views I will fight till the death for your right to have them" Getting rid of free speech is a slippery slope. These idiots will soon realise no one cares
