MPH Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 wouldnt a march be better than just letting them congregate somewhere?? they then couldnt moan they wasnt allowed to march so no excuses there, would keep them moving which would have thought less likely for them to kick off.. not saying would want them here at all but if there gona come.. last time they marched they caused alot of damage.... Why do people get so worked up about it? Unless any of your property is likely to get damaged then why do people stress so much? Them people in the shop and the shopkeepers have only got themselves to blame. They all knew the EDL were coming and they all know what the EDL can do so don't go into town on that one day and don;t open your shop. Surely opening your shop and going into is giving you a bigger chance to become a victim of whatever happens. Let the police do there job, keep out of the way and insurance will cover the windows. Wow there is so much ignorance in those two lines its hard to know where to start.... so.. people should only care if violence and damage happens to them personally? im almost speechless at that part..... But, in short, thats the sort of attitude that esculates the problem and lets people get away with the mindless violence... Its by people collectively caring and wanting something done about it that will achieve anything. and the 2nd part.... by just going about their daily lives as normal is in some way a victory for them. It proves they are not intimidated by the idiots who want to do exactly that... intimidate and scare people into going away. and why should they go away? or go anywhere?

The Mercury has made its position very clear. We would take a diffent angle to the tabloids. Looks like a rival group will make a counter protest but reporters have to be on the frontline to get news.
