seenitall Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Last year after 26 games we had 35 points and were 12th, just 4 points off the play offs and full of optimism for a late surge towards the play offs. This year after 26 games we have erm, 35 points and are a massive 5 points off the play offs!!!!! Lots of pessimism this year and a lot less last year - I would suggest it is not down to the one additional point we are off the play offs so it has to be because the weight of expectation has made us spoilt - either that or we all know we are too shite to mount a challenge, which would suggest less faith in Nige. Strange how different you can feel with pretty much the same outcome though.
fleckneymike Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 It is all to do with the direction of travel.
Ultra Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 The gap's actually 7 points. Last year we had players in confidence and on form. Then Sven decided to tinker with a winning formula and the rest is history.

On top of that Pearson has failed to improve team spirit/morale and more importantly improve results.
acooling08 Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 There's only much crushing disappointment year after year that you can take before you turn into a bunch of moaning bastards (like our fans)
iamafox Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 We have to try to emulate or better our 5 match winning sequence from last season into this season. Doesn't look like it will happen with the current squad at this rate, still no back-to-back wins!

Expectation makes all the difference, the summer of spending, names & reputations which ultimately amounted to never ever reaching top 6. We've been awful since the winning run ended last Feb-ish But, yes... Expectation
Christoph Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 My problem is that if we can't beat teams like Barnsley and Peterborough, then how are we supposed to beat premiership teams?
