Villa - Safe Standing

Great stuff in theory but the notion of it being introduced in 2013-2014 at the earliest concerns me.

I can see this being buried by either Villa or the PL.

We need a full co-ordinated effort as in Scotland to get this pushed through, not just one pioneer club.

Brilliant news. And it's very good that it's one of our big clubs too.

I can still see Leicester turning it down though.

Ive not read the article- too pissed. I thought the law would have to be changed first. I thought it stated that all grounds in the prem n championship must be all seater?

I guess technically it would still be all seater, but with rail seats, not sure if there is a specific law that you have to use a certain type of seat.

some of the replies on teh op are comical..

moaning about its only being done to raise more money (as bigger attendences possible, they looking to add a section not swap a seating part)

moaning they wouldnt pay even £1 to see the current rubbish being played there

moaning its a backwards step, sort the team out first etc..

finally get a club wanting to try and some of its own fans are against the idea now..

Its the english way were never happier than when were moaning.

But they are correct in some of their concerns, the main reason villa are experiencing drop in attendances is more to do with the manager and the team than the standing issue. I wouldnt be surprised if the current manager left fans would return and villas stance about bringing in safe standing would disappear.

There is no law in England that prevents standing.

If the EPL went tits up then maybe they'd think about it but as scotland doesnt have to be all seater or really change any legislation its a lot easier for them to introduce it.

Can you imagine the english FA giving the green light for clubs to introduce safe standing areas, c'mon it would never happen.
