Gazza M Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 Going to be an interesting rest of the season, leading in to the summer and who Mr Pearson will retain and remove from the squad. As far as I'm concerned the current squad of players are no where near good enough. All they seem good at doing is talking about how good they are in the Leicester Mercury! Mr St Ledger the latest one, the other day saying "we can do a Reading." Thats very unlikely seeing they aren't good enough to put back to back wins together, never mind half a dozen! The problem is the players believe their own press. The season for me is just getting worse and worse, especially now we have more injury problems. The season is one of the biggest let downs in my 20 years following City after all of the hype of last summer and the big spending. What we need is players with the right attitude, drive to improve themselves and plenty of bottle under pressure. That gets you so far in this league as it is a physical and mental battle each week. I would keep from the current crop: Kasper Peltier Morgan St Ledger Kennedy Marshall King Danns Drinkwater Gallagher Nugent Beckford Waghorn Schlupp We should oust the deadwood and cash in and cut our losses on some of the over paid prats in our squad. I would look to add to that list: CB, New young LB, CM, LW. I would also promote and use: Adam Smith, Liam Moore, Tom Parkes, Cian Bolger and Tom Hopper in the squad.
LCFC FOX Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 Next Years list: Goalkeepers: Kasper Smith Defenders: Peltier Mills Morgan St Ledger Koncheskey Moore Parkes Midfielders: Drinkwater Marshal King Danns Dyer Gallagher Strikers: Nugent Beckford (not sure) Waghorn Hopper Schlupp then I think Pearson will only make a couple of signings. GK (back up) RB (back up) CB (first team) LB (back up) CM (first team) RM (first team / first team) LM (first team) ST (back up / first team)
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 Who do I think Pearson will let go? Beckford Danns Wellens Mills SSL Who would I like him to let go? Beckford Danns Wellens Mills Gally
wellyfox Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 We can all state who we want and who we want to get rid of and it means fvck all. And too a point NP can make a list of who he wants rid of. And to a point that will mean fvck all. As a lot of players will have 2 yrs left they don;t have to go ie Wellens and some of the others. We have not even off loaded Johnson who's on loan and not been fit all season. Plan what you want I'm just gonna wait and see till July.

Kitchandro Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 I'm not sure that we need to be buying a load of players for backup. We should be buying players better than what we've got, and the current ones should be backup. Either that or they should be of similar quality so that there's competition for places (in the case of our good players i.e Nugent). The mistake we made in the summer was preparing to have a first team for the league and a second team for league cup games. There was no squad, just 2 starting 11s. The likes of Ball and Howard were never good enough to challenge for the first team so shouldn't have been included in the 'squad'. This is part of the reason we have been left with a bunch of poor/average players and only about 3 worthy of starting in a promotion side. On this season's evidence Peltier would be back up, so we need to get a better right back. And if he is first choice, we have the young lad Moore and Pantsil still here. We don't need to buy back up, we buy better or play one of those 2. Kennedy has looked OK in his few appearances so he's good enough for back up. Morgan, Mills, SSL and Bamba should all be in competition with each other. Or, if they're shit, they need replacing with a top quality centre back. The midfield needs competition at the very least. In truth most of it needs replacing - the current failures can be backup (Gally, King, Danns, Wellens, Dyer). Who knows, maybe they'll up their game when they've actuallly got competition from good players instead of equally average ones. Howard needs replacing, so a big man wouldn't go a miss. Beckford and Nugent need more goalscoring competition though. Schlupp is worth thinking about when he comes back, maybe Hopper will be ready too. The only player that should be brought in for backup (unless we're talking emergency loans) is a goalkeeper. But even then, who's any good that wants to sit on the bench for a midtable Championship side? May as well let Logan twiddle his thumbs every week.
